GBCA provides more than 300 member companies with access to proven advocacy, networking opportunities, safety services, education and training programs.

Story

As one of America’s oldest trade associations, we advance commercial construction in the Philadelphia region by serving as a powerful voice, an industry watchdog and a critical resource.

Established in 1891, we are the Philadelphia chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). We provide more than 300 member companies with access to proven advocacy, networking opportunities, safety services, education and training programs.

When members want to fundamentally improve how their business operates, they turn to us. We provide a forum where members engage in collaborative activities that promote education, safety, marketing and better relationships within the industry as well as with labor and government.

Our membership ranks include commercial, industrial and institutional general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers and construction service firms located in southeastern Pennsylvania, northern Delaware, southern New Jersey, northern Maryland and the eastern shore.

Mission

Products

Committees:

Executive Committee – is the pulse of the association, directing and monitoring the policies and finances of the organization.

Affiliate Member Council – Promotes the expertise of GBCA supplies and service companies by hosting business forums, exchanges and networking opportunities.

AIA/GBCA Joint Committee – Works with the American Institute of Architects Philadelphia Chapter on issues of mutual interest.

Associate Member Executive Committee – Promotes the interest of subcontractor members and works to support their business objectives.

Construction Leadership Council – The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) was established to fulfill the need to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the construction industry. The CLC is a conduit for participants to network, exchange ideas about work and the industry, serve local communities, continue professional development, and develop leadership skills.

Education Committee – helps establish the program agenda and course curricula available to eligible GBCA member employees , and works to facilitate professional development opportunities and student involvement.
Government Affairs Committee – monitors and addresses legislative, regulatory and public policy matters, keeping GBCA in the forefront of topical and emerging issues that impact the industry on local, state and national levels.

Labor Policy Committee – set labor policy for the association and works to ensure a stable and productive relationship between management and affiliated labor unions.

Safety Committee – Promotes workplace safety and supports the efforts of contractor members to maintain accident-free job sites.
