Went to see the show during opening week and decided to have dinner at the Gelston House. Food was amazing, service was great and the atmosphere was awesome! They changed the floors and it really suits the place. We visit once a year but expect to be back soon to try some other items on the menu. I highly recommend the Short Ribs.

Had lunch with my friend today and it was amazing! Banging shrimp po boy and the prime rib French dip were to die for! But my favorite is the goodspeed burger, always come back for more! Service is attentive and fast!

Been here for lunch a couple of times. Excellent food. Great service and a nice view of the Connecticut River. Goodspeed Opera Houseis right next to it. It’s the birthplace of some famous musicals.

Incredibly disappointing. We live nearby and have been talking about eating here for a couple years.
First the high points. The building is a stunning, gorgeous historical gem. The view of the river is incredible and the grounds are also impressive, Music by the River is a fantastic summer-long event.
Now the not-so-good. Food was very, very bland. Prime rib was very tough, definitely not slow cooked (was also over-cooked). The mashed potatoes tasted like mashed boiled potatoes.....very little butter, no cream, basically no flavor, my 12 year son makes better at home. The parmesan crusted cod was pretty good, cooked correctly, but the bed of risotto it came on was undercooked and crunchy.....you can't shortcut risotto. The shrimp scampi was way, way off, the sauce tasted like it was made with butter, very cheap white wine (a lot of it), and too much pepper. No noticeable lemon or parsley in it, barely edible.
Food quality was below mediocre, especially considering the price of the entrees.
Will not ever be back, which is such a shame considering what an awesome location and setting it is.

The view is ok, but dam does this place stink. No Joke. On a Saturday afternoon, 3 other tables of people, Not busy even a little, getting someone to help you was a comedy show. Waitresses ducking eye contact, just weird and creepy. We ordered a few things, one of which was a Turkey club we figured we'd share. We got a mayonnaise sandwich. I'm not kidding. They gave us 3 layers of mayo, tomato and lettuce. NO TURKEY, NO BACON. It's like ordering Tuna and someone bringing you a cup of Mayo. Other than crying laughing at how lame that was, we wondered how high you'd have to be to forget the Turkey, ya know, ON A TURKEY CLUB? Even Subway has that one down. Nuff said.
Only reason I gave it a star is they had beer. I like beer. Run Forest......
