After waiting for 20 minutes, they called us to be seated and my husband went ahead to take the table and I took 3 extra minutes to put my dog in the car because they are not pet friendly and they did not seat my husband because the "full party had to be here", which is reasonable when it is a big party, but we were only 2 people, so when I entered we had to continue waiting. The Waiter did not introduce himself, he did not welcome us, we never knew his name and he had a terrible attitude. As for the food, it’s very interesting how they adapt Korean American food, but being a student in Food Chemistry I can tell you that the quality control is terrible and I don’t know where they get that concept of bringing meat at room temperature so that you can cook it where you can get food intoxicated with raw chicken very easily since bacteria reproduce quickly when you leave raw meat on the table and after cooking for 15 minutes and the chicken wasn’t cooked and I had to try raw chicken, something extremely disgusting another waitress told us that on the table there was a knob to turn and increase the heat which caused it to go from raw to burnt in a few minutes, something that nobody explained to us, we were about to leave everything behind and leave that place because the truth is the stress was too much since we were very hungry, in the end we decided to pay the bill which was more than $70 for two people and 2 lemonades, and we went straight to Olive Garden Torrance for an exquisite soup and salad and they treated us wonderfully as always. Of course we shared our story with the Olive Garden's manager because she came up to us to ask how our food was, something that no one in Gen ever asked us and she told us that if you are going to go to a restaurant to cook your food, why not cook at home? That is a great recommendation that I want to make to you, or go to Olive Garden.
Surprisingly no wait for Sunday lunch, so that’s one pro. Meats were ok, service was so-so. It wasn’t packed but our orders took long to get to our table. The waitstaff did their best to serve everybody but I believe they were understaffed. Our server himself was running around in between tables. Floor is a slip hazard due to oils and improper ventilation. One thing that I did want to emphasize is the soft tofu soup. The chef in the back must be whipping up random ingredients because they added tomatoes and bell peppers and even added soybean paste in it —the wrong paste for this soup. It tasted wrong and confusing. Not sure if that was just a one time thing or if this is really how they make their tofu soup at this location, but any well-versed foodie would know that soup just ain’t it. It was only $30 per person so I guess you get what you pay for. I normally like Gen but would not come back to this location.
We have been to different locations of this restaurant so we are familiar with the quality and service. This is our first time here and we got the service level we expected from other locations. Food was amazing. Service quality was outstanding. We went on a late Saturday night so it was busy but they were able to accommodate a large group of 14. We did call an hour ahead to be sure. We enjoyed our time there!
I came here with my friend yesterday , I am gonna say the experience is a terrible mess. I used to went here very often, is a very good place to have BBQ before, but what I experienced yesterday is totally opposite. I order a meal and wait for 30 minutes, and they only gave us a piece of meat, which I wait for half an hour and this is what I got, totally wasting my time. I also got the belly that was cut into a mess, I don’t know how they serve us in such a terrible way!
My kids treated me here for Mothers Day. They had been before but it was my first time. The Potato Salad Oh Emm Gee. I make the best potato salad but this was ...not like mine but still super tasty. Service was amazing. I enjoyed the experience and we agreed to start going once a month. $30 / person all you can eat. They have like 20 meat choices. Or you can add $20 for the upgrade. We didn't do the upgrade. I will do the upgrade when I go by myself
The weekend lunch menu isn't bad but nothing to write home about. I really liked the service, very friendly, very fast. The whole restaurant could use a bit of a scrub down and more powerful venting systemFood: 3/5
This was our first time and it won't be our last. The portions are huge, the food is amazing and they have a great selection of Soju to drink. Our server explained everything to us and answered any questions we had. Everything was amazing. If I had to say anything negative it would be that hubby wanted a knife to cut his steak instead of the scissors, at first they said they didn't have any but a server came and brought us a butter knife so it all worked out!!
It’s one of my favourite spots and I can’t get enough! The food is great, the price makes it taste even better and the service is great. We did have a little hiccup with the drink as it came flat and food came a bit slower than usual but as soon as they realised they sorted it out asap which I appreciate. I believe our waitress was a woman called MJ and I didn’t catch the gent that worked with her but he was great too sorry. The only downside is the flooring, it always feels slippery and even more concerning when you come with babies.
Gen Korean BBQ is top level! My husband and I have been to many Korean bbq restaurants and this one by far tops all! The expedited service, attention to detail, presentation, explanations, and clarity of the menu without questions made this experience our favorite! We will definitely recommend. Ryan and Alex greeted us with such great energy and made sure our first experience was rocking! A great date night out or a solo date can still feel fitting with the vibe. Definitely appreciate the great and fast service presented without missing a step. We will be back!
Been coming here for a few years and never fail to disappoint. I know some may say that it is overrated but I personally love the attention they give you and the professionalism they show. Waiting times can vary but be ready to wait between 20 minutes to 1 hour depending on the day of the week/weekend. Price is fair for the amount of meats you get in the 2 hour time period. LUNCH : $19.95, DINNER : $28.95. Ambience is young and trendy...clean and plenty of parking as well. Definitely a place to come at least once to experience.
