I attempted to call after-hours for a quick question about my son's upcoming appointment. I was greeted with "Gifford Medical Center, how can I redirect your call?" I begin to explain my question when I'm cut off with, "Gifford Medical Center, how can I redirect your call?" followed shortly by "Hello?" as if they couldn't hear me. They hang up. Thinking it was my phone messing up, I called them back. No big deal. I'm greeted with, "Gifford Medical Center, how can I redirect your call?" I explain again and again I'm cut off with "Hello?" I ask if they can hear me and they repeat "Gifford Medical Center, how can I redirect your call?" which doesn't tell me if they heard me or not, so I repeat myself again, "Can you hear me?" They repeat the same "Gifford Medical Center, how can I redirect your call?" This devolves into a full 60-second back-and-forth loop that became increasingly frustrating from both sides before I realize that they CAN hear me and "Gifford Medical Center, how can I redirect your call" was their way of answering "yes I can hear you". It is by far the weirdest and most disgusting way I've ever been treated by any Medical institution; a simple "yes" would have answered my question and allowed me to continue with the initial question I called to ask for. Is this something that the after-hours on-call person is instructed to say? How much more frustrating would it be to a parent or loved one calling about something MORE serious than my question and then being met with the same treatment?
Care more about their staff, than their patients. I expressed my frustration after being jerked around for 5 months with no results with the nurse Amanda , to only be told to be nice to their nurse staff, or else today at my appointment. Spent more time telling me how to act, then taking care of my issues. If you want a doctor who could care less, Tillinghast is for you.
For this area and the lack of options available, this place is a godsend. Usually quick, even if they’re backed up, incredible bedside manner, professional. We used to have a provider we liked from this place, but she left, and we like the one we have now even better. Just such a great practice even for somebody like me who despised and avoided going to the doctor most of my life. Now I’m here every year for my checkup.
If I could give zero stars I would. This isn’t for me but a family member . Her doctor refused to look at her rash she has below her back. Saying nothing is wrong when something is…Days before saying her blood work is totally fine when it says she’s a pre diabetic. That is not fine. Dr Florence should be canned immediately
As something important as healthcare I am shocked at the lack of reviews. I have been very satisfied with the quality of care my family has received from Gifford. We left UVM after our previous Primary care physician retired. When I call during business hours the front desk picked up maybe 90% of the time and returns your call if you leave a message in about 15 min.
Terrible. I arrived 2 minutes late and they turned me away. If you’re seeking a doctors office that does not care about you and abides by the strictest scheduling rules, this is your place. If you want a compassionate and understanding office, I suggest you look elsewhere.
I am normally a very forgiving person and, if this were this first issue with this facility I would brush this off. However, after my wife became ill with the flu and, having compromised immune system due to Rheumatoid Arthritis was told by her Rhuematoligist to call her Primary Dr. at Gifford at Berlin, I did this for her and was promised a call back. it is now a full 30.5 hours later and we just now received a call. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE WHEN IT COMES TO CARING FOR YOUR PATIENTS!! GIFFORD...You all need to be ashamed of yourselves! This "service" by a PA and facility ranks you at the bottom in the State of VT Also- looking at your Facebook page a word of advice. It would do you well to address the numerous unhappy clients
They do keep to a strict time line as very busy. However they have never hurreyed me during the visit. Listen to what I say and address every issue. Friendly & and nice.
Great staff and a great group of medical practitioners!
Rude receptionists, impossible to get ahold of anyone always reaches the voicemail, no one actually picks up, getting a call back is ridiculously hard, and prescriptions take days to even get called in. Visits feel very rushed, and doctor's genuinely do not seem to care about patients needs.
