Sadly, I’ve had to adjust my review from 4/5 stars to 1/5 stars due to a couple major policy changes. First, this gym is no longer open 24 hours during the week. It closes at 11pm on week days and on weekends it closes an hour earlier than before (now closes at 10pm).  Second, the gym no longer provides small hand towels to clean equipment and use for general purposes. This is truly sad as already few people wiped down machines and benches after use. With these two changes I’m now hard pressed to find a reason to recommend this gym over literally any place else. 

Also, benches and machines have crazy loose bolts. Someone’s going to really hurt themselves.

The O’Fallon Gold’s Gym is atrociously filthy. The locker rooms are swept what seems to be every other day, the showers have not been scrubbed down since I joined this summer (at least), the cardio equipment is caked with sweat, and equipment wipe down is not reinforced or encouraged. There were zero towels available for equipment wipe down this weekend and the towels that are usually available are dark with stains. They’ve made an effort to clean the floors in the ladies locker room, but they’re black w dirt again. A large chunk (size of an apple) of dust fell from the ceiling duct vent (visibly caked w dust and material build up) this weekend while I was on the treadmill. My fiancé and I looked up - the vents haven’t been cleaned in what looks like years. The lockers don’t seem to ever be wiped out, and I have never witnessed an associate cleaning the equipment in either the weight or cardio areas. I have personally witnessed Gold’s associates use the facilities and not wash their hands with soap.

I would not recommend this gym to friends or family, if there were a competitor in the area. Attention to detail at this Gold’s is adhoc and minimal. We pay good money to use these facilities and it can’t all be going to overhead. PLEASE take a look at your cleaning regiments.

 I will say, the team that works the morning shift at the front desk have awesome and friendly attitudes. It’s welcome before dawn :) They earned the gym the 2 stars vs only 1.

I was only in town for a couple of days and the friendly staff helped me get an inexpensive pass for my short stay.

A friend of mine needed help at the gym the other day. I gave her a couple of pointers. I just got a rude call from the manager saying that if I do this again my membership will be terminated. Is that a joke? Don't give anyone help around you? Get real. I would recommend other gyms before this one. Try C-1 fit in Ofallon by Chris Gilbert. There is also a great fat loss bootcamp nearby Fast Fitness close by with Valerie and Chad Skinner.
