The food was so good i ate evetything on my plate. The staff was friendly and allways on hand to get my drink refilled. Great experience.

We have been so thrilled since this place opened in our area. FINALLY! GOOD SUSHI!! We've had many great experiences with takeout. They are so accommodating and willing to prepare large orders late at night. My reasoning for 4 stars vs 5 is that I went here for lunch with my mom and placed a small order because we only had 45 minutes to eat. We told our server this when we sat down and ordered immediately. There were only about 5-7 tables in there, 2 of which sat down just before we did. Not sure what happened, but we ended up having to get our food to go and it still took them 15 minutes after we needed to leave to get our food out. I ordered 1 spicy tuna roll and some egg drop soup and mom ordered something similar. Definitely not a complicated order. Once I was finally able to eat it, it was GROSS! I hope that they were just having an off-day, but I've been too scared to try it again.

Excellent Cashew Shrimp.  Bento boxes have small shrimp vs. jumbo shrimp in the entrees.

I've only been living in the Sunset Beach area for about 4 months and I work in the Southport area.  One of my favorite Americanized Chinese dishes is Sweet and Sour Chicken.  However, the thing that makes this dish special is when bell peppers, onions, and pineapple are cooked with the chicken.  I've visited 6 different Chinese Restaurants in Southport and Sunset Beach/Calabash area and the only one that provides these goodies with the S&S Chicken is Golden City.  In addition, the vegetables and pineapple come in big uneven chunks, so they are most likely fresh.  

I've visited three times now (each time trying a different entrée).  The food has always been good.  The only downside is that on two of the occasions I waited for a long period to be seated (not because it was too busy, but because there was not a host/hostess at the entrance area).  On my last visit, the people behind me were seated a few minutes after I was seated, however, their food arrived at their table in a normal amount of time.  By the time I got my food, their party had already finished their food.  On the positive side, the staff has always been very friendly.

In summary, Golden City makes delicious fresh foods, but you may have to wait a bit to enjoy them.
