Story

Early Childhood Program

We offer an outstanding Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten curriculum, led by dedicated educators that teach the basics of phonics, fundamentals of reading, and mathematical skills. Good Shepherd is a Florida approved Voluntary Pre–Kindergarten provider.

Elementary & Middle School Program

First through eighth grade students are given a dynamic opportunity to learn and apply what is taught by our team of Christian instructors. Studies include reading, mathematics, language arts, writing, spelling, science, and history. A Beka materials are the basis of our curriculum. “A Beka Book is dedicated to providing quality education from a Christian perspective. Their skilled researchers and writers do not paraphrase progressive education textbooks and add Biblical principles; they do primary research in every subject and look at the subject from God’s point of view.”

Our students have a reputation throughout the community as being “disciplined and well educated” students who take pride in their work and score high in academic testing.

Good Shepherd accepts Florida Step Up for Students scholarship students.

Spiritual enrichment through Bible study, Prayer, and weekly Chapel services are at the heart of all programs. We believe studying the Bible enhances student confidence, cultivates a positive character, fortifies Christian values, and inspires a personal relationship with God.

“Train a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Our Athletic Program is recreational and competitive. We believe sports are a means of teaching discipline and sportsmanship while building self esteem and having fun. All sports are held during the corresponding season, and include Flag Football, Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, Cheer leading, and Volleyball.

After school recreational and competitive sports are offered to fifth through eight grade students. Good Shepherd School competes in and sponsors athletic tournaments.

Special Programs are designed to enhance the individual interest of each student. They include Safety Patrol, Student Government, Year Book, Fine Arts, Music, Bible Drill Competitions, Drawing & Paint, Drama, and Spelling Bee.

High School Program

Good Shepherd Lutheran High school will include stimulating academic courses that will challenge and grow each student throughout their high school years as part of a well-rounded college-preparatory course of study. We offer core academic courses in English, mathematics, science, and history which will meet standard graduation requirements and prepare students for further studies. Additional practical course options in consumer and business mathematics teach about taxes, balancing a budget, and other useful life skills. These courses will benefit every student
as they prepare for college or life’s work. Each course is taught through streaming or dvd of an accredited abeka educator. Students will have an on site educator to help them navigate their courses and ensure successful completion of requirements for graduation. Students will be provided all the textbooks and materials required for success. Additionally, each student will receive their very own chromebook to assist in their learning. It will be theirs to keep upon graduation.

Loss of property, sending child home constantly without reason, charging me without a bill. I had a 15 month old foster child in the school for 4 months. All was well while Jessica was her teacher, but a new teacher began working in the afternoon and during the summer and all of the sudden I was constantly getting calls to take my child home early. My foster daughter suffers from GI issues and has a specialist. She has a special diet, which was explained to the school and is written on the paperwork. There have been numerous times that the child was fed foods that she has an allergy to, and on one occasion she was given expired Lactaid, and then sent home because she threw up or had diarrhea. Most recently, she was sent home because she had a "low - grade fever," although they couldn't tell me the exact temperature. I immediately took her temperature when we got home and got a 97.1F reading. I was told I was not allowed to bring her back for 24 hours unless I had a doctor's note. I couldn't get her into a doctor for at least 24 hours anyway, but throughout that next day and the weekend she never once had a temperature above 98.6. My foster daughter is not always the most pleasant child to deal with, and does have some temper tantrums. It was almost as if they were looking for excuses to get rid of her for the day. On top of it, they have lost her security blanket, a fitted sheet, and a brand new pack of wipes, and clothes. When I went to withdraw her from the school, I was told that I had a balance of $60. This was what they called the parent portion of the foster care bill. However, in the four months she was attending the school, I was never told I had a bill or that I owed any money. I have worked with numerous daycare facilities who do not charge foster parents an additional fee to have their children there, so it was not uncommon to not receive a bill. It seems that they were a bit unprofessional and I was very dissatisfied with the way they handled my child toward the end.

The staff truly cares. My daughter has been there for almost a year. I love the fact that they inform me when she is not feeling well. My complaint is that other parents don't care enough to keep sick children home. It's sad when you see children who are sick keep being brought back. Some parents truly need to stop and think rashes, diarrhea, and fevers deserve to stay home 24 hours. The school is making beautiful changes and the staff truly care about my child I love the fact that the teachers know my name and talk to me about the well-being of my daughter.

I have taught for going on 23 years! The Lord sent me to Good Shepherd almost nine years ago. I LOVE this school and the teachers and staff that work here. The principal, Mrs. Hudnell, is the BEST principal I have ever worked for!! Our students are wonderful. Our classes are small, and we are a dedicated team!!! Come and join us at this five star school. Blessings and Love, Mrs. Tschappat
