Story

Who we are...

North Fort Myers First Baptist Church is a traditional Southern Baptist church located in North Fort Myers. It is our eager expectation to magnify the name of Jesus Christ in SWFL and to the ends of the earth.
We aim to do that in two ways: 1. Fulfilling the Great Commandment of loving God with our whole being and as a result loving our neighbor as our self. 2. Fulfilling the Great Commission of going and making disciples of all nations.

What are the services like?

At North Fort Myers First Baptist, we are people of the Book. Not just any book, the Holy Scriptures. We believe that the Scriptures are the infallible, inerrant, literal word of God. It is our highest authority or what some may call Sola Scriptura. In believing this, we base our lives on the Scriptures and our worship services on the Scriptures.
Our services are traditional and God-honoring. We sing the great hymns of old that pronounce the glories of our Heavenly Father. Our sermons are Scripturally-based and presented in a expository fashion where a book of the Bible is explained and expounded on line by line, verse by verse and usually word by word. To borrow from Dr. John Piper, "Christian preaching, as part of the corporate worship of Christ’s church, is an expository exultation over the glories of God in His word, designed to lure God’s people from the fleeting pleasures of sin into the sacrificial path of obedient satisfaction in Him."

What should I wear?

Just because we take the Bible seriously does not mean we take ourselves seriously. You do not have to dress a certain way or act a certain way or talk a certain way to worship with us. We are regular people doing our very best to love God and love the world. You will see people in coat and tie and you will see people in jeans and t-shirts. You can wear whatever makes you comfortable.

What about my kids?

At First Baptist we like to call ourselves "Your Family Baptist." Why? Because families are important to us. We have an excellent children's Sunday School program as well as a Kid's Kingdom portion of the worship service. Children ages 3 - 3rd grade may also attend Junior Church which takes place after the worship service begins while the older children and teens may worship together with their family. Nursery is also provided during Sunday School and worship services.
