Story

in 1960 Gordy & Marilyn opened Gordy's Hi-Hat in Cloquet, MN. 55 years later everything is still done the same way - fresh hand-pattied hamburgers, home-made onion rings, fresh hand-dipped fish, and delicious hand blended shakes. Gordy and Marilyn, both in their 80's, are still active in the business.


All Burgers are fresh, hand pattied, USDA choice Ground Beef!

Hamburgers and Cheeseburgers come with choice of Ketchup, Mustard, Pickels and Raw or Fried Onions.

Love, love, love this place! We make special trips to Gordys, it's an hour away. We love the box of fries, their soups, and burgers. My personal favorite is the shrimp burger. We also really like the fish. Don't forget to order a chocolate malt. If you are lucky, Gordy himself will wait on you!

A true classic. It's a throwback that never gets old. Gordys is always consistent with the quality of their food, and has the best shakes you'll find anywhere.

As soon as I walked in, I was met with a wave of retro nostalgia. Checkered floor and classic rock and roll music, the smell and sound of burgers and fries sizzling, and the sound of orders being called over the PA system. Low prices for classic food quality. The staff were friendly and were able too hear my entire order despite the loud atmosphere. Plenty of seating available, both inside and outside. Took about 4 minutes to get the food, which was delicious. Burger was decent sized and juicy, fries were crisp and not too salty (we ordered a regular and received almost a pound of fries). The bathrooms were also neat and tidy. Overall great experience, would definitely recommend stopping in if you're in the area.

Old school drive-in style restaurant with burgers and other classic, simple sandwiches. Both the burger and the fish sandwich were fantastic, and the tartar sauce that came with the fish was perfect. This place is only open during the summer months, so be sure to plan a stop on your way to or from the MN north shore.

Fantastic time. Food is the best of it's kind. Super friendly atmosphere to boot. Had the California burger with bacon, and a side of curds. At one of their famous shakes or ice cream to that combo and you will not regret.
