I went to Doctors Express because I contracted a urinary tract infection, between the time my university health insurance ran out and my employment-based coverage began. I had experienced this health problem before, and knew what treatments worked well for me. I paid a fee up front, and an additional fee for some kind of preliminary in-house diagnostic analysis. I was told the analysis was inconclusive, and my urine must be sent to Quest; I could have antibiotics that day if I chose, but the test would still need to be run, and I would get the bill in the mail. I asked what the lab work would cost, and no one at the facility knew, or were able to find out. On the day my results were due, I called Doctors Express, and was told that my bacteria level was high, but lower than the clinical designation for an "infection;" however, since I was still having symptoms, the doctor would call in a prescription anyway. I had warned him that some antibiotics work better for me than others, and suggested Cipro, but he prescribed something else, and my infection came back shortly after I finished the dose. I called a doctor friend (which I had chosen not to do in order to be more responsible about my health, ha ha), who called in a Cipro prescription which cured me. A few weeks later, I got a large bill for the mandatory lab tests the Doctors Express doctor disregarded in order to prescribe me drugs that didn't work. Though I understand that financial considerations shouldn't determine what medical treatments a doctor chooses, if you're treating an uninsured patient, it's naive to think that expensive medical bills will have no affect on other choices that impact health, so one should at least have an idea what they'll cost. Never again.

I was early and patiently waiting outside the door not even knocking. The medical assistant opened the door and said rudely "we are not open until 2 more minutes and no provider is even here yet to see you anyway!". I went inside and sat down even though I felt extremely unwelcomed. The front receptionist was nice but required my copay before services were given. I waited another 20 minutes until a nurse practitioner arrived, not even a doctor and was seen. She had no clue what it was, I said well maybe it is ring work because it is round and she said ok we will treat it that way. I went to my dermatologist a week later because it was still not healing and she said it was not ring worm, it was granuloma manulare. Never again!

There were only 2 people there (patients), including myself. The other patient left 10 minutes after I arrived. I ended up being there for well over an hour, for an appointment that literally took 3 minutes. The nurse and receptionist were both amazing and incredibly nice though. Sadly the obnoxious wait for no reason, and with no apology, will prevent me from ever going there again.
