We love Grace. Our daughter is nearly 5 and has been in Grace's preschool and Junior Kindergarten programs. Both are 5 day a week, half day programs. Student teacher ratio is 7:1 in these classes-- great kids. We love the communication. All parents get weekly notes about what she is learning in class plus parents receive ad doc emails from her teacher when something fun or interesting happened in his / her day. It helps us share part of our daughter's day. We love the families. The new head of school is in her second year and really works to build the community. The teachers are dedicated and really work to engage the kids academically and socially. We are so grateful to have found this neighborhood gem.

This school has been absolutely perfect for my daughter, and I can't say enough good things about it. It is academically challenging, and the small class size allows for really great interaction between students and the teachers. The new head of school, Patti Culbreth, is absolutely terrific--such a great leader.

Although not a separate entity from the parish, the school operates with a lot of independence. That said, I am not sure I would trust my child to this school, given that 1) Vestry members do not see the school's financials and board minutes, as required by parish policy; 2) school employees do not comply with the diocese's sexual misconduct prevention policies (they get training, but not in the form required by diocesan policy; 3) issues with hoarding in the church office and chaos in parish financial records; 4) allegations of bullying of parishioners by the rector, Bob Malm; 5) allegations of repeated discrepancies in parish bank deposits; 6) experiences my family has had with repeated misuse of restricted memorial donations. (These are donations solicited by the church for a specific purpose and under a specific set of conditions. In that case, the funds must be used per the terms of the solicitation. Note that, after multiple complaints, the funds were finally returned.) In apparent retaliation for complaining about the misuse of funds, my family member received an email from parish administrator Amy Medrick stating that the parish would no longer accept donations from my family. Must be nice to be a church that can afford to turn away donations! By the way, the reason I give the school two stars, versus the one star I gave the church, is that I believe the school makes a sincere effort to operate efficiently and with integrity. But as a component of a church with such serious operational and administrative issues, I would have to urge caution. As they say down South, "If you stand next to a skunk, sooner or later you're bound to get sprayed!"
