Granite City Food & Brewery is a polished casual restaurant with an on-site brewery. The on-site brewery, with award-winning hand crafted micro-brews, is visible from the main dining and bar areas. The restaurants also showcase an open kitchen featuring chef developed, handcrafted made-from-scratch cuisine, including innovative signature entrees, flatbreads and more.
Granite City Food & Brewery’s signature brews, which are made on-site, include The Duke (Pale Ale), The Bennie (Bock), The Batch 1000 (Double IPA), The Northern (American Style Light Lager) and The Stout. Seasonal brews are featured throughout the year.
The handcrafted beers –also available in growlers - are moderately priced and offer unique styles and flavors not typically produced by major breweries. The patented brewing process, known as Fermentus InterruptusTM, makes replicating the same great taste simple and efficient throughout all Granite City Food and Brewery restaurants.
WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Granite City is the nickname of our hometown of St. Cloud, Minnesota - one of the great granite capitals of the world. Back in the 1880’s, quarrying was hard, thirsty work. For miners of Northern European ancestry, that meant beer. So family breweries sprang up. They know the secrets of making beer to match the flavor of food made from scratch. With prohibition, the breweries all but vanished. But the spirit of Granite City is alive and well. Just look around you and raise a glass - To fresh made food, beer fresh brewed and all the delicious things in life!
OUR PATENTED BREWING PROCESS:
Shortly before we opened our third store, we launched our patented brewing process, Fermentus Interruptus™, which makes micro brewing for multiple locations more efficient. This process, conceived and designed by Mr. Burdick, allows us to ship sweet liquid called wort, from our central brewing facility to individual stores. When this liquid reaches the stores, we begin the fermentation process and complete the brewing. We use Fermentus Interruptus at all of our Granite City Food & Brewery® locations.

Nice ambiance but the steak was way to salty. Had to send it back twice just to have to order something else. Waitress had a little bit of an attitude but if I'm paying that much for a steak I'd like it to be good. I will not be returning. Customer service is everything.

Great appetizers - especially spinach-artichoke dip and Asian glazed shrimp..Pretty good service. Seemed to take a bit longer than I'd expect. Service was ok. Still waiting on my tea....thanks for telling us the whipped cream supply was empty - AFTER we asked why there was non on our warm cookie and double chocolate cake. Hmmmmmm.......

It used to be our favorite place to go for happy hour. Sadly they changed the menu and the product. 6 Boneless wings the size of a nickel each for $5. The flat bread is half the size it used to be. I made reservations, but they made us wait and told us they were full. The manager acted put out when she sat is outside of the area to have Happy Hour and I requested they honor the Happy Hour prices. On a good note...the food and beers ARE very good, and our waitress, Brittany, was fabulous! Sit in her section. Granite City, give her a raise.

Went to the Downtown Detroit location inside the Renaissance to Celebrate my son’s Birthday on Sunday, 1/7/18. We ordered the Pepper Bacon tomato flatbread pizza for our appetizer. I took a bite and felt something awkward in my mouth, it was a staple. I handed it to our waiter, who in turn took it to his Manager. The Waiter came back to the table and said,” my Manager is willing to pay for everything ordered before the incident occurred!” The one star is for the Waiter’s service, “ONLY!”

Been here three times so far. Terrible service. We love the one in Troy. It was so disappointing because we really love the food and beer selection. Our most recent experience, we tried to get in for happy hour, and the hostess was extremely rude (Friday 5pm). She refused to clear a dirty table in the bar area for us. She also talked about us in front of our faces to other customers, saying how we had "too high of expectations, and it wasn't her job to seat us for happy hour." We waited 15 minutes for her to clear the table and ended up leaving the restaurant. Food has been over cooked. Also, the kitchen/waitress wasn't accommodating in letting me order a wrap for dinner. It's a lunch only item and they weren't even willing to try to make it.
