I really like this place. I travel locally for work and whenever I'm in Alton, I make sure to give this place a visit for lunch. I love the vibe, it reminds you of Local Harvest. I would recommend this place. They have fresh made lunches and good local honey. I love this small business.

Grassroots is basically a supermarket, minus the junk that you don't need to waste your money on. Whether you need a wholesome meal to recharge after a day of canoeing the Mississippi or just a quick bite after commuting from St. Louis, the variety of ripe, local produce and ready-to-eat sandwiches, salads, and wraps are convenient and VERY tasty. Life is too short to eat processed foods, so why not choose local, organic, and luscious food at great prices? Give them a visit sometime!

Its a sweet little grocery store oasis in what was once a food desert. Always impressed w the options this store consistantly has to offer, the variety is amazing and INCLUSIVE. No matter what your eating habits & preferences may be, or how tight or loose of a budget you're working with.. They've kept you in mind when choosing the inventory. You will find low cost staples..such Bread, milk and cheese at prices lower than youll find at the regular supermarket .. Or if you want those same things organic, bread from sprouted grains & cheese locally crafted, you'll find those too. During the growing season nearly all of their produce is sourced from local CFA' -- truly fresh, with no chemical pesticides or waxes. The prepared foods are also locally made, chef prepared, affordable & delicious. Did I mention the bulk section?
