Story

Green Machine Cycles is a bicycle shop providing sales of cargo-hauling, commuting, and touring solutions at a wide range of prices, as well as precise and timely repairs on all types of human-powered devices.

Custom builds, frame preparation and rust-proofing, dynamo lighting systems, guaranteed wheel builds, luggage consultation, fitting, and more.

We strive to make the most appropriate use of materials and energy at the shop, focusing on stocking products both for sale and store use that are energy efficient, respectful of natural and human resources, and geared toward the best performance, greatest longevity of use, and ease of service.

We are closed January and February but are available by appointment. Please email [email protected] with inquiries about service or sales during this time. Thank you.

I came in today and was greeted promptly with a friendly face and got assistance from Charlie in selecting a pannier. He offered his own personal experience to help me make the best decision. He also advice me on some general bike touring tips and encouragement. I felt so secure in my purchase. They have some awesome bike brands in stock and great gear. Definitely check this place out. My bike was shifting poorly and causing me to feel unsafe. I brought my bike in and spoke with Ezra. He said, they would take a look at it as well as take a test ride and give me a call. Ezra called me the next day and explained what was wrong and gave me options. I needed a special part that would need to be ordered. Ezra explained to me that it wasn't on the normal order days for the store, however he could order it if I wanted to pay for the shipping(which he also gave me an estimated cost). I commute to work most days and wanted my bike up and running ASAP so I agreed to the repairs and shipping. The work was done on time and at the price Ezra said it would be. My bike shifts and rides FANTASTIC, thanks to Ezra and the staff at Green Cycles. I recommend Green Cycles for future repairs.

Green Machine has always performed high quality service on my bicycles. The service is friendly but also blunt and straightforward about the work that needs to be done on my bike. I'll definitely be bringing my bicycle here for service in the future.

I am a rather new customer -- but quickly became a loyal one to Green Machine Cycles. Not only do Ezra and Chris love what they do - their knowledge of all things bikes (especially cargo bikes - their specialty), is vast. They truly take the time to learn what your needs are and that they are met. You will enjoy the experience of shopping for your bike needs and potentially learn something new from these two. I highly recommend this very friendly and welcoming shop. Check it out; you will NOT regret it !!

An excellent little bike shop on the Northside near Ashland and Montrose. I recently had the shop build me a bike and Charlie and Ezra were more than helpful in all aspects of the process. I first came into the shop with just a vague idea of what I wanted. Charlie and Ezra helped me decide what I wanted in terms of major components (drive system, handlebar type, brake type, wheels, etc.) and then worked to fill in all the missing bits to form a complete build. I had a complete parts list and expected price before final approval and frame purchase. I never felt like they were condescending or pushing me in a direction I didn't want to go. It was a very positive experience overall and Green Machine is now my go to local shop.
