Helping the world around us to not only IMAGINE great things but CREATE them
Guilford Art Center nurtures and supports excellence in the arts. Through educational programs for adults and children, exhibitions, sale of contemporary crafts, and special events, the Center continues the traditions of fine artistic work, fosters creativity, and provides opportunities for all to enjoy the process and results of making art.
The School at the Guilford Art Center offers classes and workshops at all levels, for adults and children: Blacksmithing, Ceramics, Drawing, Fiber and Weaving, Glass, Jewelry and Metalsmithing, Painting, Printmaking, Photography, and more. In addition to weekly classes, the Center conducts weekend workshops with visiting artists for more intensive study in specific art areas.
The Mill Gallery features work by both emerging and established artists. All exhibits are free, open to the public, and often have items for sale. The Mill Gallery is the largest gallery space between Branford and Old Lyme.
Artistry, a holiday sale of fine crafts representing the work of over 200 artists from around the country, runs from November into early January. There is a broad selection of one-of-a-kind handmade items: jewelry, ceramics, glass, metal, basketry, wearable and decorative fiber, paper goods and cards, and wood products.
Every July, the Guilford Art Center sponsors Craft Expo, Connecticut's largest outdoor juried craft show. Held on the Guilford Green, Craft Expo represents artists from throughout the country and attracts over 10,000 visitors.
