I almost forgot what it was like to get a haircut by somebody who really knows how to do it!

I admit it - I've been a Supercuts guy for the past few years, ever since the lady who used to cut my hair left the business.  I was getting the simple #4 on top and #2 on the sides, forgetting to focus on how it really looks since my hairline is, ahem, changing.  I guess you could say I had given up on a haircut being anything other than a way to keep what's left from getting in my eyes

I talked for a minute with Kathi about what I had been doing and she said, "No, no, no - you don't want to do that.  You need to be properly cut with scissors, leave a little more length here,blend it there, etc. etc.  So I sat down and she did her thing.  Let's just say I'm not going back to Supercuts.  Kathi knows how to cut hair old-school in addition to offering all the new trendy services the ladies want.  When I got home, my wife was thrilled - we both agreed it was the best cut I've had in years.

Kathi was great to chat with and the atmosphere in the salon was calm and casual - the decorating was cool, with a little bit of a steampunk flair.  I really recommend giving the place a try.  The people working there seem to really like each other - none of that weird competitive catty-ness you feel in some salons.  

This is my new place!

Worst place ever! The old man who was doing a haircut looked like he was doing this for the first time. This is the worst haircut in my life!!! Highly NOT recommended!

I have 'complex' hair, and I'm particular about it.  I hate trying to explain what I want done -- I just want it done.  After trying a dozen or so places in Irvine, I found George, and I've been getting my hair cut by him for 3 or 4 years since.  I followed him from his old salon to the current one, and even though I moved to LA last year, I still drive down to OC every month or so to get my haircut.  Ask him about what sort of food he has been cooking, how his animals are, and if he's read any good books lately.

I've been now twice to Kathi the owner, for my style & blow-dry.  Both times flawlessly executed.  Will return for any special occasions.  Have not tried cut or color yet, but gaining confidence with every visit.  This is my new hair place in Irvine.
