My wife had a hair appointment today at Hairizona and had the worst experience at a hair salon ever. Perhaps these folks have never dealt with anyone with thick Irish hair, but that does not forgive their poor manners.
My wife had three stylists trying to comb through her *dry* hair, while asking her insulting questions such as "do you ever comb your hair?" And "oh, you have dreadlocks?" They continuously made faces of disgust back and forth at each other while subjecting my wife to this torture session. Finally, the first stylist gave up and handed her off to someone else who finished the job, albeit poorly.
Now, I have no problem admitting that my wife's hair is difficult. Celtic hair is every bit as challenging to work with as African hair can be. My wife brushes her hair daily and yet there always knots and eventually her hair begins to clump. That said, she has had two children in the last two years and struggles with Lupus so I think she's doing a darn good job of maintaining her hair.
All this is besides the point. If you are a professional, you do not make fun of or insult your clients. If you cannot do your job pleasantly, you tell the client up front and refuse to give service. Instead, my wife paid to be humiliated and is now in tears.
As a massage therapist I regularly have difficult clients. I don't humiliate them for having knotted muscles or because their feet smell bad. I make sure they enjoy their time. That should be the goal of this establishment too.
So if you value professionalism or human decency, do NOT give Hairizona your business. An whatever you do, if you have ethnic hair, stay far away. I hope this review helps you make your choice.
PS: The final cut looks terrible - the stylists seem to have been spiteful in the end. Now my wife is walking around with a hood on.

Jessica is beyond accommodating; she is present with you, she has a studio that holds a lovely space that feels good and is welcoming.
I have lived in Sedona for 16 years and have had quite a few different stylists work with my  hair. I only wish I had discovered her sooner!
