Love this place. The big book stores get all the praise but this workhorse is a book lovers dream!

This bookstore feels like a lot of those "grandpa's attic" used bookstores you find in small towns, cramped with books packed into every inch of improvised plywood and second-hand bookcases. There's handpainted signs over each little nook letting you know what section you're in.

The problem (and it might well be subjective, really) is that for me, every time I go in the pickings are just really slim. I always find something I'm willing to buy, maybe even enough things I have to choose between a few things in the small pile I pull together--but it's never a case of finding a book that I'm thrilled to find, they're mostly just obscure books I'm not that interested in or more commonplace books that seem like an okay deal--again for being "half price" the deals have never bowled me over.

So yeah, your mileage may definitely vary, but while I'm always able to kill an hour or so poking around here I've never been tremendously rewarded for it.

I can't go here often. I can't. I have bills to pay and would like to eat at least once a day. Spending long periods of time here will not let that happen. So many books on a variety of topics, anyone can find something to read.

I absolutely LOVE Half Price Books (in Tukwila, that's the one I am near). I frequent it and if they don't have what I am looking for, they check all their other stores across the country to see if one of them has it...if so, they have it sent to their store or me. It's so awesome and you can't beat the prices and the kind staff there who are more than helpful. It's always fun just to look and see what you might stumble across too. My husband and I have taken many, many books there to sell. True, you rarely get much, but at least, you get Something! Half Price Books is definitely a treasure trove!

Great selection of books and book-nerd stuff that more often than not really is half-priced, usually even beating Amazon's prices.
