Hambone
"Located in the heart of Old Mandeville on Girod Street, just blocks from the lakefront, sits Hambone. Take a walk through the kid friendly, fenced-in, outdoor seating area. Inside you will find some of the best southern food around. Chef Luke Hidalgo was a sous chef at Commander’s Palace for over 6 years when he met Marci, who was a server there. With other great names under their belts like Galatoire’s and Coquette, they developed delicious, approachable comfort food made from a chef’s perspective with fresh, local ingredients pulled straight from the gulf and from farms on the LA Northshore. Hopefully, the food accompanied by the warm and fuzzy service in the coziest of atmospheres will leave you dreaming of your next meal at Hambone."

Husband and I had an appointment in Mandeville so we stopped in for lunch. So good! I got the tomato sandwich and loved it but, my favorites were the deviled eggs and the strawberry biscuit dessert. Chef/Owner Lauren was able to take time our from her important work in the kitchen to chat with us. What a lovely experience. Will be sure to visit again whenever we find ourselves on this side of the lake.
This establishment is very cozy and unassuming. I didn’t think twice when I ordered to chicken sandwich, boudin, and gumbo. Just grabbing a quick bite before I went to church. The chicken sandwich blew my mind. Perfect flavor!!! I ran to the kitchen to see who the little black lady was who prepared. To my surprise, the Chef was a Seth Rodgen look alike. This man is like a good scientist. There is something mystical about his food. So much flavor!!! I don’t even like Gumbo but his with the potato salad changed my life. I hope this place keeps this Chef because if he hits LA, New York, or Chicago….he will be a very wealthy man. The food was simple the best I’ve ever had and I’m close to 50.
One of the best tomato sandwiches I've ever had. Love the atmosphere, the staff was charming, and I'm excited to go back again.
every aspect of the dining experience was amazing. the hand crafted cocktails are first class. the chip and dip cornucopia of flavors will blow you away. and our entrees were delectable. do yourself a favor and visit in the evening. the staff is fantastic.
A simple but delicious menu; portions are a little smaller than restaurants nearby, but they will satisfy your taste buds
Good food with a cozy atmosphere. We got the gumbo and the chicken biscuit. The biscuit was delicious and the gumbo was good but a tad salty in my opinion. They have a nice large outdoor area with plenty of space between tables.Recommended dishesChicken Biscuit
The chips & dip were awesome. The burger was decent. The duck was delicious. The collards were horribly tainted with vinegar. The French fries were burnt. The hoard of flies really ruined the whole experience. We will not try this restaurant for at least a year. How they earned in the top 10 restaurants in Mandeville is a joke. The only reason I would venture there again was the awesome chips/dip. Kid-friendliness: Kids galore. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp is getting old but is still safe
This place is a hidden gem! Chef Loren and the staff are absolutely amazing. The ambiance is super cool, this old house is so charming and has so much character and the food is phenomenal! Thanks for a great date night!
Had Mother's Day brunch here. Charming little eat spot in old Mandeville with plenty of outside seating. Menu is a bit limited, but it's a small local eatery. Had the mothers day special, along with chicken biscuits, fried boudin and more. All of the food was great- flavorful and great presentation. The one and only issue i had was that all the plates were too small for the food items on them. My biscuit came on just a 4" tin. Highly recommend stopping if you're looking for a nice leisure dining experience. This isn't the place if you're in a hurry. All the wait staff was super friendly, attentive and nice. They are DOG Friendly too!!!
Everything here has been delicious. I highly recommend the chicken biscuit sandwich. The biscuits are fresh and buttery. They also have a good selection of beer.Recommended dishesChicken Biscuit
