Story

Since 1948, we’ve been proud to serve the village of Elmhurst some of it's favorite food. Along the way, we’ve managed not just to live history, but to see the young grow old and graceful. Nostalgia?...perhaps, but it's has been a true “Back to the Future” journey for all of our past & present friends. Thank you to all that have supported us through out the years. We truly appreciated it! We promised then and we promise today to make great food and link generations with every little bite.

The best burger in DuPage county! Hamburger Heaven is an old fashioned walk-up hamburger place. There is no indoor seating, but a few picnic tables for those who want to slam their burgers and fries right there. But, it's mostly take out. A good menu, with double burgers (your best bet) festooned with chopped lettuce, mayo, and other condiments, pickle an onion. The double burger or double cheeseburger, if you want to guild the lily, are amazing and served hot off the grill, with a triple bun to hold all the goodies in. Even with a middle bun, your burger will drip goodness, so grab napkins. I bring mine home and grab paper towels for the best clean up while eating. The fries are crispy and have just as much grease as you expect for a place like this. They have root beer on tap and other soft drinks. My daughter likes the hot-out-of-the-frier chicken fingers, made with breast meat or the loaded Chicago dog. Part of the experience at Hamburger Heaven is standing on the corner of York Rd and North Av, while traffic whizzes by, talking to other diners talking about how much you all love this joint and how long you've been eating there. Although the menu is large, I, personally, stick with the double burger because it's the best burger anywhere. Give Hamburger Heaven a try.

They have good burgers. But the 2 stars is for the racist encounter with one of their staff. I went with a friend and we both ordered and stood next to each other. She gave him his food no problem (not mentioning his race) but when it was time for mine, she called my number so I walked up to grab it and she quickly snatched it away and said let me see your receipt so I showed it to her and she throws the bag at my chest. If I wasn't in my work uniform, I would be on the news because that was insane

It was fun to revisit Hamburger Heaven when passing through Elmhurst. I remember when it opened in the late 1940s and was a pioneer in putting lettuce and sliced tomato on a hamburger. It stillpoks the same after all these years. It is an Elmhurst institution standing in the midst of new condos and other changes.

I live right by here and the place has a very old school feel everyone loves. The food is great (not just burgers). They recently redid their outdoor seating area ( much needed improvement). Their root beer is locally famous so get yourself a float

Best Shakes and burgers 🍔! Recommend the chicken strips as well. Service is always A+. True on-site enjoy eating here with family
