About

When it comes to fun and learning, Hands On is “the place to go.” The Museum is a unique community resource that serves as an exciting, educational gathering place where children, parents and teachers can learn and play.

Story

Come play with us! As the largest children's museum in the Pacific Northwest, we celebrate play and believe in its importance in early learning. With our eight galleries and fabulous art studio, we encourage children and their parents to play and learn all about science, nature, and art, in settings inspired by our beautiful Northwest. Our Outdoor Discovery Center, a half-acre of outdoor exhibits, expands the opportunities for play and learning.

This place never gets boring! We've visited for First Friday's for years and will continue to go for the foreseeable future. It's always changing but still has our favorite exhibits. They added a light house! How cool is that?!? Plus the first Friday entry is by donation and rumor is if you have an EBT card admission is always free. Definitely check it out!

Excellent staff! They keep up the maintenance of all displays. The place nay not seem to large for an adult, but for the children it is easily the best playground. My child was easily entertained for 5 hours and slept for another three on the way home. Traffic coming in and out of Olympia sucks but if your kid doesn't mind the car it is totally worth it. If it was closer, I would sign up for the membership hands down. Couple of cons: you have to pay for parking. (1$ an hour) and there isn't a very large dining option inside the museum. However you are more than welcome to leave and then come back to play. ^^

Very pleasant experience with lots to do for the kids. Hours of fun exploring the many areas that are setup for both play and learning. Staff was nice and did a good job keeping things organized and clean. It was hot outside when we visited and we found out drinks were not allowed in the play area so just plan accordingly. There is a cafeteria right outside the play area with a good variety of food and beverages. I will definitely bring my kids again, we all had a good time. I highly recommend taking a trip to visit the hands on children museum.

Great place. Kids love it. Staff is pretty good. My only complaint is that my food options at the cafe that were gluten free and vegan were basically just grapes and carrots.

Great place to bring the kids to play. It's a learning experience for sure, but it is also very popular so it makes a great socializing experience. As with most places like this, you need to be careful if you have a baby like us because the bigger kids might run her over!
