An enterprise of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation, Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel is located in Murphy, North Carolina. We feature 50,000 square feet of gaming space with over 1,000 slots and 70 traditional table games, a five-outlet Food Market and a 300-room, full-service hotel.

We've been to the Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino over a half dozen times. On a couple of occasions we've stayed overnight in their rooms. I really have no complaints. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Most of all, it's a relatively short drive to get there from where I live (just under two hours). There are times that they are so busy that it can be difficult to find a favorite slot machine that isn't being occupied. Not a big deal usually. I can always find another game. All in all it's well worth the drive

This location is not as big as the one in Cherokee. They are constructing what looks to be more hotel rooms right now. Food court has a Starbucks.  Casino is clean and does not stink like smoke. There are a good amount of table games and a wide variety of slots. Dealers are very nice and fun to play with. If you cannot make it to Cherokee, this a nice spot to have a little fun.  I will return to this location when I pass through this area again.

My wife and I stopped in on the way home from Nantahala. Everyone was super nice and helpful, especially for a couple of newbies. For all casual gamblers, Harrah's is known for lots of great promotions to get you in the building. Even after ordering a few drinks, we still came out in the positive. Word to the wise, be ready for smoke, but the open environment doesn't make the smoke too much of an inconvenience.

Seems well stocked with a variety of electronic and manned table games.

Didn't see a theatre for live shows, night club or other entertainment offerings which is a shame. Even an attached chain restaurant/bar would've been a nice addition. You'd figure, if anyone in the area would have those things, it would be at the shiny new casino.

Even so, they did have a well-stocked food court and a few clean, large capacity restrooms with, so you're never too far from one. The food court includes a Starbucks,  which was a nice surprise.

If I had any major complaint, it would simply be that they allow smokers inside the casino. I don't care what advanced air-scrubbing technology the HVAC companies claim to have, no bar, restaurant or casino in history has ever managed to successfully deal with the challenges of tobacco smoke. There either needs to be a room separate from the main floor for smokers or a designated outdoor smoking area. 

Otherwise, it was a pleasant experience overall and I look forward to returning.

Great location, several options to eat here at the hotel, but close enough to more restaurants for different options. Beautiful rooms and spacious showers/bathrooms. Very clean experience and exceptionally friendly staff.
