Story

Hays Public Library isn't your usual library. We have programs for all ages that are educational and fun.

When you think of a library you think of books, right? Well, HPL has large collections of audiobooks, music, video games, dvds and blu-rays, magazines, cd-roms, and foreign language resources as well as books.

We also have OverDrive available so you can check out books on your tablets and e-readers. Want to test out an e-reader? See the Adult Dept. to check one out!

We have tons of programs for children for early literacy, crafts, storytime, and general fun for the whole family.

Through our Children's Dept you can also sign up for your child to be tutored with one of our many wonderful tutors!

Our Young Adult Dept. always has something fun going on. From crafts to video games there is always something to do in the afternoons at the Hays Public Library.

Are you wanting to get in touch with your roots? Visit the Kansas Room! Our librarian is very helpful with helping you find what you need. Whether you are doing genealogy or researching Kansas history and Kansas authors, the Kansas Room is a quiet place for you.

Every department has public computers for your convenience. The internet is free to the pucblic, you don't even need a library card!
