Heartwood is a jewel. It's one of the best places (of any kind) in Charlottesville, and has been so for many years. The people there are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. It's a joy to browse around this store.

An excellent second-hand shop, easy/comfortable to survey, with regular movement in the stock and pleasant service, especially strong on literary history/criticism, fiction, and American history. There is an annexe with antiquarian books that is well worth a visit.
