Great place to recreate with family and friends. Passage on the Snake River by boat, is the Gateway to Hells Canyon; North America's Deepest River Gorge!

If you like an RV park style of camping, this is not a bad campground. The sites are not too close and the trees are numerous for shade. However, if you like trails and hiking, you will be disappointed. The trails are desert sand and scrub, which is not the fault of the campground, of course. The beach is sandy and large, with a nice grassy park adjacent. But there are no piers or docks, so you'll have to walk over a rocky water entrance to get into the water. There is a highway across the river, and traffic noise is constant. That can become white noise after a while, but if the power boats are out, your peace will be destroyed. Powerboats are loud and fast, but serve no other real purpose. And the powerboaters love to run back and forth. Times 100. So if you like a semi suburban camping experience with some water activity and don't mind the possibility of loud boats, it is an okay place to camp. But if you like to hike or mountain bike and want a more peaceful experience, I'd look elsewhere.
