I first tried out this course when I signed up for a lesson with the on-site PGA Coach, Carlos. It's a good Par 3 for a beginner looking to improve his or her short game. You don't need anything bigger than a 7 iron and there aren't any bunkers or water hazards to worry about. You do have to be careful around the rough, however. The facility is well-maintained and fun to play. Sure, golf carts are not allowed and you have to carry your clubs or rent a push cart. But it's not that big and feels nice to walk. The course is also lenient with tee time group size. Most courses in the area require single golfers to join a random group. But this course is never too busy so you can play a practice round on your own. The catch is you can't play more than 2 balls on each hole. The best part is knowing that the course fees funds programs to help with veteran recovery programs.
I give this a four star rating because 4.0 in my book is fantastic. I would give it a five if it was an 18 hole golf course, but I find it to be fantastic for all of those looking for a place to call a refuge and refreshing to life and all the reasons the great outdoors is the place to be. The foundation that started this, are heroes themselves and I applaud and celebrate you. Playing here and doing all the things that a person can do for such a low cost and a great reason to be outside, bravobravo!!! I recommend anyone to come and experience The Heroes Golf Course. Mini have fallen but to do so for all of us millions and millions that stand as we are now breathing because of those heroes. Thank you thank you for this great place.
Great, fun par 3 course. Very well kept. Course direction is interesting with possibly a lot of walking from green to tee box but overall probably one of my favorite par 3 courses I've played. Definitely coming back anytime I come to Northern LA.

It's a bit sad. The golf course is more of a driving range that also has a small putting area. The VA in general has seen better days. The bird sanctuary is gone as well as the nursery which I'm glad about since before it was there it used to be a great place to explore. There used to be large fruit trees which the nursery cut down. ultimately I think that was also the demise of the bird sanctuary as the public no longer went there to donate to keep the vets in the birds in food
It's a great little 9 hole golf course where you have time to relax and work on your game. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Heroes Golf Course is at the end of Patton Ave., not in the hospital building as Google maps currently identifies it. Take Bonsall north to its terminus and turn right on Patton.
i had a grand time here today. this is a wonderful benefit for veterans, and a better place for much needed exercise. the staff here is friendly, accommodating, and helpful. thank you for placing veterans first. i will have to return and work on my horrible scores.
Great 9 hole golf course. The parking lot is lined with gardens of fresh vegetables that anyone can pick..its a very cool place to spend the afternoon
