I started golfing with Carlos this year, having never picked up a club before. I just wanted to get a basic understanding of the game but ended up falling in love with it! Carlos is all about learning the game, including the strategy and the etiquette. He is well qualified and passionate, and I believe that all of these things led me to developing a a great respect for the game myself. I recently played my first "real" rounds of golf and while I have plenty to improve, I was able to keep up and stay "in the game" the entire time. That was such an accomplishment for me! I'd highly recommend LA Golf Academy
As a teacher, I have pretty high standards when it comes to effective teaching practices AND I hate leaving reviews, so the fact that I'm leaving this review to say that Carlos is an amazing teacher means something. If you're looking to learn how to just hit a ball far, then I'd suggest finding another teacher. However, if you want to learn how to play the game of golf, then Carlos is the guy for you. Carlos teaches on the Heroes Golf Course so you learn as you play, which is initially why I chose the LA Golf Academy for lessons. However, the way Carlos is able to break down the mechanics of a swing, provide feedback/corrections, and incorporate lessons on proper golf etiquette all in one hour is why I decided to stick with him as a teacher. He's also just a great guy which makes learning from him so enjoyable. Though I'd still consider myself a beginner, Carlos is the only reason I feel confident enough to say I'm a golfer now. Also, big shout out to Pamela who coordinates everything off the golf course! Her response time to any form of communication is unrivaled.
This place is awesome. I always wanted to golf but had no experience, so my mother-in-law bought me some lessons at the LA Golf Academy for Christmas. Scheduling was a snap. The course is nice and everyone was so kind and supportive. Carlos is a fantastic instructor--he's patient, kind, and fun. Cannot recommend the experience enough.
I’m new to golf and had several lessons with Carlos. Carlos is very patient but firm enough to keep me on my toes. He takes the time to understand how I learn based on my background work, sports experience, etcand applies that to my lesson. I’m enjoying learning from Carlos and playing at Heroes Golf Course.
Carlos knows the game and how to teach it. I’ve wanted to pick up golf as a hobby and he’s been a great help. Very pleased with my experience after several lessons so far and expect to continue.
Overall, Carlos is a great coach that teaches you the fundamentals the right way. I highly recommend starting with him! I took 1 lesson so far. The lesson did not start right on the course. We first sat down and talked about the game of golf, strategies, and grips. After about 10 minutes, we stepped on to the first whole for the first lesson. In the Heros Golf Course, you don't need anything more than a 7 iron. So we practiced with the 7-iron, sand wedge, and putter. Carlos's philosophy is that you have to learn the physics and basics on the course and not on a driving range. He is clear about what you are doing wrong and gives the right corrections/instructions. Another thing I liked was how easy it was to book a class and receive invoices. Pamela manages the business side of the classes and is always great at responding to messages, answering questions, and booking classes. Definitely makes the whole experience so much better! Now, I'm playing a 9-hole game nearly every other day!
Carlos is an absolute gem. I’m actually getting compliments on my swing now. All thanks to Carlos.
Easily one of our kids favorite camps of the summer and we've done a lot of summer camps. Coach Carlos is so engaging and has taught my boys not just the essential skills and etiquette of the game, but has taught them to really appreciate and enjoy playing golf. All the staff at LA Golf Academy are so accommodating as well, many times we've booked last minute or day of and they always make room.
Had a great experience taking my first golf lessons with Carlos. He's a great teacher and really helps beginners get a foundation for the game.
Carlos is a great guy on top of a very knowledgeable PGA instructor I like the concept that he plays tha walks the hole with you
