I had booked a specific make of car and the Hertz website confirmed this. Upon arriving at the rental agency there was only ONE make available and it wasn't the one I had booked. This was a big problem due to the fact that I had planned to use the vehicle to transport clients with whom this specific make would have reflected on me poorly.  I was offered a very small car that had just been returned and was not clean. The service could best be described as aloof.

Worst Rental Experience EVER!

The reason I did not complain then and there is because I was in a hurry.

When I got into the car I noticed a strong smell of Marijuana, Cigarettes and Cologne.
After driving for a couple hours when it started getting dark out I noticed that the windshield was extremely smeared to the point where I had to pull over and clean it because I couldn't see when the headlights from oncoming vehicles hit the windshield.
Also there was some sort of parking permit on the windshield and a bunch of trash on the back seat and the steering wheel was disgustingly sticky.

When I called up customer service I was told that no Hertz location in my area currently has any cars and the closest place to switch out the car is 30-45min away from where I am. 

I am currently considering switching back to Enterprise and will talk to my travel manager to make sure that we as a company will stop using Hertz all together. 

This is unacceptable!

While they may be cheaper than some other companies, their policies are limiting and their customer service skills were sorely lacking. They do not accept debit cards or cash for payments or deposits and will only accept credit cards. The staff at the desk were unfriendly and held a side conversation while I was attempting to pick up a rental.
