The Bartender Chastity is the Best. Frendly, fun, real. Food: 4/5
This is the worst bar. If you don’t live within a few blocks, don’t go here regularly, or are under 30- they’ll be rude, refuse you service, or “threaten” to call cops. Literally, me and my friends who went are all in our mid 20s, and we have the old Oregon IDs which are still valid, but don’t look fancy, and we got refused service, and the bartender sent her friend to threaten us to get out. We weren’t loud, distracting, or obnoxious. Just a few legal adults wanting to try out our local bar quietly & peacefully. I was DD for the night, and ordered a soda, and still got kicked out. Please note- we live in the area. We ARE locals- we’re just a couple decades younger than the average customer. Very cult-ish and exclusive here, and not in a good way by any means.
if I could give this place a negative 5 stars i would. The bartender spent almost an hour and a half total on break and when she was behind the bar all of about 10 minutes she not once asked if we would like a drink. Very rude atmosphere dirty no one was masked up very cluttered would not return nor would I recommend this place. I was a bartender and have worked in the service industry for a very long time and there is a certain standard you should always keep even if the customer is not one of your regulars. when you see a new customer come in at least acknowledge them especially since it wasn't busy. Maybe if she was not outback smoking the entire time we were there we might have gotten a drink!!!
If you're looking for a classic PNW dive, this fits the bill. The main bar area is pretty standard, then there is a pool table and the obligatory lottery machines. There's some outdoor seating that might be more conducive to actual social interaction, but if that's what you're after I'd suggest that you keep looking.
Hit up Hidden East to kill some time while traveling. Place was clean enough, customers seemed close knit but open to new people visiting. Bartender was Chastity, and was great. Drinks delivered quickly, friendly and laughed at really bad jokes. Pretty much all I could ask for in some small bar. I come to town often and Chastity turned me into a regular, I always come here now.
One of my absolute favorite bars in Portland. Homie, down to earth, relaxed, super friendly bartenders! I ve it here I come here almost every day to spend a dollar!
Amazing bar tenders, amazing people, best drinks. I couldn’t be happier whenever I’m here, and it truly feels like home. Frankie, Reggie & Lauren are INCREDIBLE. My entire staff comes here and we all can’t say enough good things. :
