Everything is fantastic, do not miss the extended Happy Hour, starts at opening and goes till the late afternoon. All the dishes have a clear flavor focus, and not your "everyday" regular sushi. The use of the robata grill on the mushroom and bacon bite, and the asparagus is just brilliant. Do mot miss the shaggy roll, or the "surf and turf" and DO NOT miss the crispy Tuna
The food here is amazing. Portions are small and pricey, definitely priced like a higher-end sushi place despite the casual atmosphere. Some of the best bites we had were “chef’s choice” nigiri selections. Very fun to be surprised and all were delicious. Service was polite but a bit slow at times. There is a green turf space outside which seems inviting for families and groups. We came as a family of 5, but would probably not come back again with kids. They had a little toy dispenser with tiny plastic duckies inside. One of my children asked if they could have one, and the waitress brought one over and said “one per table.” I almost cringed for this establishment to say that after spending close to $300 on a Sunday night dinner here. Anyways, the kids fought over the duck once we left, so that was a bummer after a nice meal. Would we come back? Maybe. I can’t tell if this place is supposed to be a nice date spot or a neighborhood sushi joint. It kind of has one foot on each side of the fence. If you order drinks, I would expect to pay around $100 per adult for dinner. At this price point, expectations are a bit higher for the overall dining experience. 5 stars for food, 3 stars for service and ambience.
Wow, what amazing sushi! We ordered the cold tasting C, crispy tuna, surf and turf, and edamame, which was very delicious! The service at this restaurant is lacking, with no genuine hostess or server, which is quite surprising given the foods price tag. There were multiple occasions when we had no water and had a stack of plates next to us. I sincerely hope their service improves since their cuisine is genuinely great.
I absolutely love everything about Himari! Everything from the food to the drinks to the music to the atmosphere was perfection! Tony, provided a stellar experience! He was courteous, knowledgeable, prompt and had excellent recommendations. You could tell he had pride in the quality of food service and the company. This was hands down some of the best sushi I've had in Houston. The location is great and offer something for everyone. Going on a date? Perfect! Sit upstairs. Do you have kids? No problem! Have a seat outside enjoy your sushi while the kids play on the green. Do you want to gather with friends and enjoy great food and drinks? All alone? Eat at the sushi bar. No matter what, you have found your place! Foodie Suggestions: Crispy tuna Surf and turf Thirsty? French 75 and French 76 Thank you so much Tony! You made this experience over the top!
Cozy sushi restaurant in this plaza area. Food was delicious and came out quickly. Ordered a sushi set, karaage, bacon wrapped mushroom, and few other rolls. Drink cocktails and sake were tasty. Plenty of options to choose from. Happy hour available during the week 11-5.Food: 5/5
I recently came here with a few friends after looking on yelp for a quick bite. Two words: just, wow. Our server Alvin was kind enough to suggest some amazing cocktails. He kept our dining experience highly elevated and made us feel very welcome. If you guys have a chance to stop in and request Alvin, do it in a heartbeat!
This was definitely one of the best sushi places we have ever been to. We started with the Tropical Tuna and edamame. Both spectacular. Edamame is usually a filler nothing special, but this edamame was charred and flavored with yuzu maybe for a really pleasant and comforting flavor. Then we had the Philadelphia role, very good. The Crispy Tuna was next, it was truly unique and so flavorful. Last we had the Surf & Turf which was perfectly torched and a perfect finisher. They have a few vegetarian options in every category. A few premium beer and sake options and canned sodas. The soy sauce also tasted homemade, but didn’t confirm. Tony was our waiter and he was great! Perfect explanation of the menu and very helpful when it came time to decide.
Really great experience. Creative and quality are top notch. We came for the Taste of Garden Oaks event and ate from the prefix menu. We will need to come back and explore other options. We had the GBG Salmon and Yellow Fin Tuna. Grilled shishito peppers and asparagus and the tuna roll. All was fresh and delicious. Service was lovely!Food: 5/5
Dined in on a Thursday at 11:30 AM for a party of four and was seated immediately. I’m a huge fan of Kokoro and Aiko, but Himari didn’t hit the spot. Their dishes lacked flavor and nothing was memorable. I do give it to them with how fresh their fish is though. We ordered: Sweet potato: ordered this for the baby, tempura was light but it’s just sweet potatoes Himari Kanpachi: could do without the sunflower seeds, needs a more acidic sauce Spicy yellowtail: buttery goodness Tropical tuna: refreshing and delicious Kushi yaki: steak was over cooked Kinoko buta: mushrooms needed to be cooked longer Negima: tender and juicy Unagi: a little burnt but good Hotate: had an odd taste, not my favorite Hamachitoro: so good and chilled to perfection BGB Saketoro: good cut Hotate gunkan: this had a kick! It looked innocent but made me choke a few times. Crispy tuna: not much flavors, the crispy was was overkill Yuzu ebi roll: simple shrimp tempura roll
A cozy sushi restaurant, it was smaller compared to their sister companies like handies douzo and aiko. there was another one but I forgot. I love love handies douzo so I was excited to eat here. i was greeted right away by the host Tony and he was welcoming. The chef didnt catch his name was friendly and easy to talk to. The food came out pretty fast and it was great since i was hungry. i ordered couple different items and everything was delicious and fresh. I liked how the rice portion was less than the fish itself. most of them didnt really need soy sauce because they were already seasoned/sauced on their own. the crispy tuna was suggested by the chef and it was so freaking good. The chef gave me otoro i believe on the house and those were yummy as well. i was kinda sad that they didn't have uni nor have plans to, but it's cool. i like the location altho parking was super packed. the restaurant is right by the green field by the front - i struggled a bit to find it. overall id recommend this place. i didn't experience anything special about the food but id say it's def on the top tier. and i want to go back and try other dishes as well!
