My friends and I came in for a late dinner 8:30pm on short notice Wednesday night and had one of the best experiences ever! Our server Kristen was delightful, attentive, and super knowledgeable about the menu. We drank the Empress 75, blueberry crush, and cucumber sake-tini and all three drinks were perfect, not too strong or sour, the bartender clearly knew what they were doing. We also got steamed pork dumpling gyozas and crab Rangoon which came out freshly made hot and were an excellent size to pop in your mouth. The sushi itself was phenomenal, since we got so much it came out on a sushi boat which was adorable. The Hiro’s Special Roll was definitely the highlight. Thank you to Kristen, the hostess, the bar, and the kitchen for an amazing night!
We went to the Haymarket location for takeout and were served this. It is supposed to be sesame chicken, but as you can see the batter is thick, undercooked and falling off. We called to let the manager know, but weren’t met with any apology or refund offer without going back to the location. This was a disappointment as we got two orders totally $30 of product.
Sashimi was good , sushi rolls had a too much rice vinegar , it doesn’t matter they’re busy or not , we don’t have a luck with a service in this location .Food: 5/5
Very last minute decision to come here for dinner for our Anniversary date night because this was the only place that was open fairly late. We got here around 9:35 and were extremely happy that they still so does even though they closed at 10. Major MAJOR shout out to our server first of all! What a gem! So friendly and always checking and honest if we needed anything - and it was out of genuine concern and not just to make us leave. In fact, we ended up staying beyond 10:00 p.m. and he was still super nice the entire time. Really friendly and bubbly and nice to talk to as well. As for the food.. I got the beef and broccoli and really loved it! It was steaming hot! Definitely freshly made. Good chunks of meat and really good amount of broccoli as well. I love the ratios on this year. There was quite an amount of sauce though which I was not expecting but overall it was a really good dish. May or may not have burned my tongue, but it was all worth it! My fiance got the Thai chicken curry from the entree section. He also had a good amount of vegetables in there and the chicken was really well cooked. Quite some big pieces of chicken too. Another fresh dish with a lot going on but very good things going on. We got the side salad for both orders. It was a simple greens plus dressing kind of a salad, but that dressing was out of this world! I asked the server and he said it was an in-house carrot ginger dressing. I'm now on the lookout for a good one to purchase! To end the meal we asked for the scallion pancake. Server was surprised this was our ending, but he went with it. Put it in just before the kitchen closed. The pancake was nice and flaky and really fresh and warm and crispy. Quite an amount of oil on there so I had to take some out with paper towels by pressing it but I would totally order it again. It comes with a spicy sauce which is a must!
Food is great and comes out timely. But, that’s if you are able to get a server to even come to your table. I’ve been here twice recently when there are maybe 3 tables out of the whole restaurant with people. The servers are sitting at the bar talking about Dunkin’ Donuts and bagel bites while I have been here for 30 minutes and haven’t been spoken to once. Manager has made eye contact with me multiple times and has done nothing
Went here on a slow Sunday no more than 15 people in the entire restaurant. Ordered some sushi, crab rangoons and spicy edamame which I do every time I come and have for years. Crab rangoons came out first and were fine. After about 10-15 minutes we made a comment to one another of where the edamame was? Shortly after it arrived and was super edamame soft and mushy. In fact, I picked up one pod and it broke open! I shared this with the server and asked for it to be remade. A few minutes later the manager came over and says “I heard you had an issue with this? And is holding the edamame in her hands. I share with her the concern and she says “have you ever had this before?” I tell her yes I have and I order it all of the time and it’s never been mushy. She then questions again if I’m sure I’ve had it be because “this is how it’s supposed to taste with the sauce and I’ll make it again but it’ll come out the exact same way.” I look at my daughter and my boyfriend to see if I’m hearing the tone right and they both laugh and give me a look of they can’t believe how she’s talking either so I simply say “I have ordered this for a decade and it’s never tasted mushy and overcooked like this, so if this is how it’s going to come out tasting then I don’t want it.” And she replied “fine I’ll take it off your bill” and walks away. I cannot believe her demeanor and treatment towards my party as of I was incompetent or trying to get something for free. The item was overcooked and the fact it came out as late as it did was an indicator someone forgot about it! I then went to add my points to my rewards account which are usually done in NO time and I go to look today and they haven’t been “approved by management” yet as the disclaimer says. This is the worst service I have had and it’s not even by the server it’s by the arrogant manager who was speaking down on me and my party vs owning that the food was overcooked. It was a $5 item, I don’t need to scam for that. But the manager definitely needs to have a better approach at how she’s approaching customers and honestly I don’t feel like she’d respond to everyone this way. But I’ll leave out the obvious.
The food was good, but I thought it was a bit expensive for the lunch portion and my salmon was just a tad dry. Everyone enjoyed their meal, but I didn't hear anyone raving about their food and they do if it warrants it. I asked the server if I could swap something out and she said she wasn't sure and then decided I couldn't. I believe if a server isn't sure they should ask. All in all it was a nice experience with decent food.
Went here while visiting my daughter in Lincoln, I thought the sushi was pretty good. We had prompt friendly service and it was in a neat location. We had the mochi after we ate and it was good too. We would definitely come back again.Food: 5/5
Hiro 88 has delicious sushi! And their happy hour deals are great. We only every really come during Happy Hour because of the cost... Hiro 88 is not infant friendly at all though! There is no changing room in the entire building and staff didn't really seem to have another option for us or really show that much care about it. We had to change our 7 month old on a bench in the railyard across the street. The high chair did not have any straps on it, so we had to keep a very close eye on him and even kind of hold on to him, so he was safe. There is no children's menu either. So, our niece's didn't have much to choose from. We made it work, just wouldn't recommend coming here with littles. Parking: It's downtown, so parking completely depends on how busy it is in Lincoln. We found street parking, but our sister-in-law had to park in a garage. Kid-friendliness: Hiro 88 is not infant friendly at all though! Absolutely my favorite place to get sushi in Lincoln! Everytime I order the food not only tastes amazing but is presented so wonderfully! My only issue has been when ordering on the app it does not always tell you when your orders done, but are always friendly on the phone when you call and check! Vegetarian options: I saw that there was a option option but did not order it myself Dietary restrictions: They have plenty of options for dietary restrictions including gluten!
