Consistent, fun, jsut as advertised. The burgers are great, there are vegetarian and vegan options, but don't come looking for a salad. The Guido is excellent, and the onion rings are maybe the best I have ever had. But don't skip the fries, they are great too. My wife had the veggie burger and enjoyed it. I took a taste. I will stick with the meat, but I found it flavorful. Service is very good. It is a place for anyone, including kids.
Hodad's didn't disappoint in it's fun and funky restaurant and staff. The day we were there, it was crazy busy. The guys working there were hustling and moving fast...all so friendly too. They ran circles around the only woman waitress there! Local beers were cold and wet! The onion rings were the best we've ever had! So hot and crispy. So so good! The burgers we had were delicious and juicy. Almost too juicy as they broke up the buns quickly! But, nevertheless...good. Crazy atmosphere, living up to the hype.
In my humble opinion, the claims made about this joint aren't over-exaggerations: this quite possibly is the best burger I've ever tried. Everything at this spot is on my point: the portions, the shakes, the onion rings, and everything in between. The burger was filled with flavor, juice, and great add-ins. This spot is a must try whenever you're down in San Diego County. Everything on the menu is out of this world. Aside from the food, I fell in love with the license plates that are plastered on the walls throughout the interior and the service was fantastic.
Definitely not my first time and not my last time. Every time it's perfect. The frings are large enough to share with a group of 5 to 8 people. Shakes are big enough to split between two. Burgers are large so beware don't get a big burger if you are not super hungry, go for a Mini.
This used to be my favorite burger joint in SD, and it's still among my favorites. The burgers are very tasty and large. My go-to is the Guido burger with an added patty and basket of fries with ranch. The burgers are really good, the staff is super friendly, and they have a cool dining atmosphere. Good for locals and tourists.
I enjoyed the novelty and experience. The food was big and juicy just as I expected. The only thing I didn't quite like was the feeling of being rushed. Other than that I would definitely go and try out the food. Usually this restaurant has a longer wait time on the weekends so if you can go during the week that would be best. Make sure to take a sticker unlike me.
Hodad’s Ocean Beach restaurant has the Best burgers and the onion rings for so amazing. Hodad’s has such a fun environment. All the food comes out fresh and is made finally fast. The staff is very friendly. The price is great for the large portion sizes. You need to come eat here. This restaurant was also on the tv show Diners Drive-ins and Dives DDD
Hodad's has been a favorite of mine for a great burger place. The shakes are the best I've ever had. The service is fast and always friendly! This last visit I noticed that my burger and onion rings had a distinct flavor change. Still good mind you, but different. Have they changed vendors or recipes? Just wondering? Kid-friendliness: Great family vibe.
Over a year ago, I had a terrible experience with Hodad’s in Downtown. The burger was way too greasy and the fries were soggy. However, I’m very pleased to say that this Hodad’s has achieved redemption. I enjoyed the texture and juiciness of the burger. Every component works very well together with every bite. The onion rings were delightful as well. The golden brown color was pleasing and inviting. The texture was crispy and the flavor was spot on. My main issue though were the fries. Despite them being well seasoned, they tasted slightly burned. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and can’t wait to return starving for more.
Fantastic food, make sure to schedule in time to lie down afterwards because it’s very heavy and they give you a lot of it. I have several family members who request Hodad’s every time they visit from out of town. I think if I were to go with one other person I would order one mini burger basket with fries and one chocolate malt and share all of it. I would highly recommend ordering the burger with grilled onions rather than the standard because it can be a lot of onion. The milkshakes are huge, don’t expect to finish but enjoy what you can because they’re amazing. I liked the fries better than the onion rings but they’re both fantastic options.
