I have tried nearly all of these companies and Home Chef has been the best!  The details on their menu cards, the ingredients included, the clear instructions are extremely detailed, well thought out and the results: delicious!  I live in San Francisco and the quality of the produce, poultry and meat were top notch.  REALLY enjoyed cooking with my son & Home Chef.  He raved about the high-end results...and that's Mr Particular, speaking!  I AM SO HAPPY I FOUND HOME CHEF!  I suggest you make this part of your holiday entertaining....I AM!!!

One star for too many mistakes and abhorrent customer service. I used them somewhat successfully in the past with the exception of a couple of orders missing important ingredients and recipe cards. The food was good and I learned some new ways to cook so I stuck with them. Ultimately,  since they don’t offer meals for one options, I was wasting too much food and I canceled the service. Now several months later after many e-mails from them with offers to return, I am in the process of filming a social media video on my own weight loss/healthy eating journey. I reached out to this company to see if they wanted to do some trade off for services and promotion. Instead of a kind return e-mail saying that they were not interested, they just flat out ignored me. I contacted them again just to be sure it wasn’t a missed connection, again they flat out ignored me. Well, I still believe a meal kit delivery service can help a person learn healthy eating habits and can help teach portion control, so I followed the links from one of their e-mails they sent to me and decided to sign up again and promote Home Chef for free. I care more about helping people than I do about discounts or freebies. So I signed up with them again, picked my first few weeks of meals and paid. Then a couple of days later I get an e-mail from PayPal stating Home Chef refunded my money with no explanation given. I went to my Home Chef app and found that they paused my account with no explanation given. So I contacted them once again to ask what was going on. Once again they have ignored me and to date they refuse to respond. I work in the customer service industry and this is just appalling and unacceptable behavior from a professional company/service. Apparently, this is quite common with their customer service department. At this point I don’t even care to know their reasoning for the crappy treatment and lack of service. You are better off going with Hello Fresh or Blue Apron for professional and reliable service. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and Home Chef has failed to deliver. Literally.

The food is good and relatively simple to make, but their business practices are deceptive! It's expensive, too - The cost of a meal is comparable to how much I would spend if I were to go out to eat. So why not spend my money on going out to dinner instead of paying to do all the prep work myself?

I gave a 2-star rating because they charged me for product I neither ordered nor wanted. I signed up for a free meal at the suggestion of a friend. The following week they proceeded to ship to me a box of food I didn't order and charge me $40 for it! I immediately cancelled my account. If you want to use the service then it's great, but they will take advantage of you if you let them!

Despite their deceptive business practices, their product is genuinely good (albeit not worth it for the price, in my opinion) and the presentation is nice, so they deserve at least two stars for their quality product. But after my experience with them, I don't think they deserve any more stars than that.

I have tried several of these home meal delivery services. Home chef is by far my favorite. The packaging/recipe cards, binder, instructions are very thorough and to the point. None of these are super quick. They all need things chopped etc. But,i didn't do this to get out of work. I wanted to experience new recipes, eat better portions and not waste so much food. It's really hard to cook for just 2 people but, with Home Chef there's no waste. Every recipe I've tried has been delicious! I would've given 5 stars but,i believe there's always room for improvement. But, this service it tops in my book!

I had previously tried Green Chef and was disappointed, but part of it was my fault because I had chosen the vegetarian meal plan the first week and changed it for the second week.  Their packaging was color-coded so there were a lot of loose ingredients you had to put together and not mix up later.  Then I tried Home Chef and it is fantastic!!  I love the way they package their food and the choices are plentiful.  Each week you get to choose from 10 to 13 different recipes--you can let them choose for you based on your detailed preferences or you can review what they've chosen for you and change it up.  We've had four deliveries so far and we haven't had a repeat recipe yet.  They also provide a plastic 3-ring binder for you to keep the recipes organized.  I can't say enough about this company.  I had a question for Home Chef so I accessed them through their customer service e-mail.  They replied the very next morning.  Oh, and their pricing is competitive, as well.  It costs $19.90 for a complete 2-person meal that includes restaurant-quality steak (if you want it).   It would cost me $15 to get two value meals from McDonald's!  You can get 4-person meals if you're feading a family.  I really love Home Chef!!
