When I was 12-14 years old, and a rock hound, this was my favorite place to camp.  They used to sponsor fossil hunting expeditions back then (around 1980.)  Now it's a federal crime to pick up fossils, but still great place for hiking.

Wonderful campground and very inexpensive! Only $10 for non utility spot, which had a covered area, bench, fire pit, and grill. The host was very nice and provided us with all the help and information that we needed. The views were great and everyone was quiet within the campground. 

Did not have water source, so plan ahead! 

Would definitely come back.
