Located in the heart of Houston’s Galleria area, HCRJ offers an intimate, inspiring, and inclusive reform Jewish synagogue.
In 1957, our congregation was born of the idea that Judaism is a religion
that should be practiced in harmony with the dictates of our hearts
instead of focusing on the use of symbols and accouterments.
We believe that Judaism should be exemplified in all human relations by
equality, brotherhood, justice, righteousness, and recognition of our
mutual responsibility to each other.
We worship with ceremonies that are designed to be simple and
meaningful and that emphasize English so that all can understand the
liturgy.
We see our future as an energetic alternative to larger congregations for
families who yearn for community and wish to be a part of an active
congregation.
Our innovative religious school is based on a curriculum designed to
engage students in dynamic, interactive learning experiences that
teach Jewish history and principles through nature, art, cooking and
other fun, exciting activities. Classes are held on Sunday mornings.
An intimate, vibrant, and inclusive Jewish synagogue with a feeling of warmth and welcoming where Jewish fellowship may flourish.
