I’ve been going to the Idaho Athletic Club for well over 10 years now, working out at four of the facilities depending on where it is convenient for me. I wanted to comment or review the recent change in ownership of Crush that started around the beginning of the year. The new management has not communicated the transition in any effective way and I continue to go to the front desk to try and understand what my transferred membership includes. This lack of communications has caused me to re-consider my membership with the new company. Additionally, there are a number of things I have noted, a few good but mostly not. They have added new soap dishes to the showers, the lighting in the steam room is better, and there seems to be better music played rather than the grunge or rap that was played by the previous ownership. On the other side, the showers have a lot of calcium buildup that should be cleaned off, some of the shower heads need to be tightened, and the locker room has generally begun to decay with locker doors not being repaired and eventually falling off. The aerobic exercise machines also are not being repaired, about 1 in 5 do not function properly. There are a few more updated weight machines that have been brought in, but without dealing with these other issues, it is just not enough. There used to be towels available at the front counter to wipe down the machines, but those are no longer there, unless you specifically request them. This means the hygiene on the equipment is less than desirable. One suggestion might be to require members to have a hand towel in order to workout and issue each member one or two of these hand towels on a one time basis and require them to pay for a replacement. Then provide an exchange of a clean one when they are finished working out. I’m sure there are quite a few that go home and are never return. The biggest reason I go to these clubs is for the pool, hot tub, and steam room after my aerobic and weight lifting workout. The water in these has been cloudy at time and the temperature varies quite a bit. Family times are pretty chaotic with young kids (3 or 4 years old) in the hot tub wearing arm-floaties and thrashing about. There needs to be a significant improvement in the water areas –it is what draws many to this chain of clubs and it has gone downhill substantially. I’ve been told that there will be a significant renovation for two or three months as each club is “upgraded” sequentially, but my concern is that the issues identified here are not related to anything other than management unwilling to keep up on maintenance, insuring folks are following the guidance posted, and understanding how to communicate with the customers. Upgrades will not solve these items. I will continue to watch over the next few weeks, but I can’t recommend others consider membership in this group of clubs based on the new management.

A great, quiet gym. It's close to home and easy to get to so it makes working out convenient. Love the staff and looking forward to the Crunch Fitness remodel!!

It's a pretty standard gym. It's got all the essentials. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful, less concerned with selling me an expensive membership and more concerned with selling me the membership I want. It seemed cleaner than other gyms I've been to.
