they want 10 dollars to view your motor vehicle record. this is just a rip off. i've already paid the fee to get MY license. why can't i get a copy of the points and infractions on it? just proof that a government entity wants to either tax, fee or penalize you into debt

The ITD is an amazing phenomenon. As a used car dealer, the ITD is the agency that authorizes me to do business, and they process the title work and car registration for all of my Idaho customers, and they are the agency that I answer to regarding legal compliance. The ITD stands out among many government agencies in at least two areas: service and cost effectiveness. Since we sell cars to people all over the country, we often work with other states' DMVs. We know first hand how debilitated some of these other states are in their ability to get paperwork done. I called an out of state DMV to try to get info on a title we were missing. I called their number for weeks without ever speaking to a human. I was directed by the robot to use their slick email portal. 3 days after my request was emailed, I got back an unhelpful answer and had to email again. Not with ITD. They have their number posted on their website for every single department. When I have a title question, I call the titles number and "wonder of wonders" a human being answers the phone every single time in 3 rings or less. AND they actually fix the issue or resolve my question on the first call almost every time. Amazing. One more thing. My annual registration costs to register as a dealer has stayed around $350 for the last 7 years. In a world where everything else is becoming much more expensive, the ITD is holding the line on their overhead and passing the savings onto me. Wow. Now, what would be really nice would be an electronic title processing portal. Doing title work by hand is pretty cumbersome and prone to human error.

It is frustrating that the 10 miles east of Idaho Falls is still reduced to 45 for loose gravel when that gravel was put down well over a year ago.

I totally support your increase of the speed limit in Southern Idaho to 80 mph. I have written AAA which I am a member of and objected to their opposition to the change. I am glad you are not of the same mindset as the Oregon Transportation Dept, which is from a different planet (Western Oregon) than ourselves.
