Since 1981 Iowa City Tire and Service has been providing new tires and superior auto repair to residents of Iowa City, and the surrounding areas.

Story

Iowa City Tire & Service is proud to be both locally owned
and a third-generation family business.

After more than 25 years as an automotive technician in the Iowa City area, Bill Brown started Iowa City Tire & Service in 1981. Our first location was on Clinton Street downtown in the old Goodyear site. We started with 4 bays and 5 employees.

Mike Brown joined his dad in the business in 1982, and the business started to grow. In 1992, Mike went out on his own and started Dodge Street Tire and father and son worked in conjunction with eachother. With a need to accommodate a growing business, Iowa City Tire relocated to 410 Kirkwood Avenue (the old Eicher Florist building) which provided the physical space to increase to five 5 bays and 7 employees.

When Bill decided it was time to retire in 2002, Mike took over the management of the Kirkwood location until he purchased the business from his parents in 2004. Mike ran both businesses for the next four years and oversaw several improvements and additions. In 2005, the Kirkwood facility was added to that allowed the addition of two more bays, doubled the warehouse space, and grew staff to 12 employees. During 2009 and continuing into 2010, attention was given to the waiting area and showroom to make them more comfortable and inviting. Mike continued running both businesses until 2008 when he sold Dodge Street Tire to long-time employee Brian Sekafetz.

While our buildings and locations may have changed, our commitment to our customers has stayed exactly the same. We are proud of our sales and service staff: together they bring more than 120 years of experience to our business:
