Irene’s bridal seems to have some very different reviews, some say how great it is and many others express their disappointment. I am with the second group. The initial experience of being told what I “should” want , when it wasn’t what I wanted , should have been enough to warn me off, but I foolishly hung in there only to find she almost ruined my dress. Structurally it was salvaged by a dressmaker I found who squeezed me in as the wedding was only two weeks away. But the stress and disappointment she created is still hard to let go. I did not even like my dress anymore, but thankfully that has now been fixed and I love the dress again. The kicker was we paid $600 up front, expecting great results but she refused to refund any of that money. I had to pay to have her mistakes fixed, including finding a needle and thread embedded in the lining! If you do take a chance on using her, don’t pay until you see satisfactory results. No bride needs that much stress two weeks before their wedding.
Becker's Bridal recommended Irene and I'm thankful they did. My dress was very delicate and she took so much care with it. From altering the sleeves to the overall dress length I'm 5'1", it was a tedious process over three appointments. Irene's pricing is reasonable and her service is remarkable. I would highly recommend.Service: Alterations
I am so impressed with Irene’s attention to detail on my wedding dress alterations. She reduced my stress level and exceeded my expectations. I will definitely use see her alternation work in the future. Thank you for making me feel beautiful in my wedding gown
Irene was so great and she altered my dress so beautifully. Even though it was last minute she fixed in a few days i'm so grateful that i found her!
Irene’s Studio completely botched my wedding dress. I was recommended to Irene’s Studio by Becker’s Bridal, where I purchased my dress, and trusted that she would do a beautiful job, but was deeply disappointed. 1 My dress was hemmed too SHORT. 2 the top/corset was not fitted to my body. There was at least 2-3 inches of space between my chest and top of the corset. For some reason Becker’s decided to order my dress 2 sizes too big, and Irene left it huge around the breast area with no support. 3 The waist and hips were supposed to be fitted to my body mermaid style, but she left it loose and wrinkly like a diaper, as the stitching was done poorly and lazily. I complained to Irene that it didn’t fit well, it felt like it was falling down, that it was too short, etc. and she “fixed” the top but made no difference at all, and she denied my other complaints, saying “it was supposed to be that way.” I took it to my regular alterations place, Montgomery Alterations AMAZING***** and thankfully they were able to make tremendous changes. It feels like a new dress. But the amount of STRESS I had to go through to get it emergency rushed because Irene gave me back my dress 1 week before my wedding I took it to her originally in March, it’s now mid-June. Do not go to Irene’s Studio. Especially not with a wedding dress.
Irene is the best! I got my dress from Kleinfeld 3 weeks before my wedding and instead of paying their ridiculous price for alterations not to mention the fact that I didn't trust them to do a good job or get it done on time - I went with Irene who was HIGHLY recommended to me by a couple friends - one of whom had entrusted her with her wedding dress just a few months prior. The shop is busy and you may need to wait - but she honours every appointment and ensures that events closer in the future are prioritized - which is a plus for brides needing their alterations turned around quickly! At my first appointment, the second I stepped out of the dressing room in my gown - Irene went straight to work pinning everything delicately and letting me know exactly what she was doing to ensure I would have the best fit and be comfortable all day/night long. My dress had a lot of beading and I was pleased to see that nothing was damaged throughout the process.. The price was a fraction of what I'd pay to Kleinfeld and Irene took the utmost care in steaming my dress and making sure it was perfect for my big day at my last appointment. Thank-you so much Irene! I have sung your praises to everyone I know in need of wedding dress alterations.
Irene is amazing! My wedding dress fit like a glove once she was done with it. I would recommend Irene's studio to anyone needing dress alterations, she is absolutely wonderful and knows exactly what she is doing!! I could go on and on about how wonderful Irene's studio is. Thank you so much Irene!!
I went to Irene for my wedding dress and my MoH's dress alterations solely because Becker’s Bridal, where I purchased my gown, listed Irene at the top of their recommended list and Irene was local for me. Our experience was not enjoyable. My dress was a fitted crepe gown, high neck, low back, with some lace applique detailing at the waistline. It fit pretty true to size at my hips and waist but needed to be brought down a couple sizes at the bust. There was no beading or embroidery, no major reconstruction was required – it was a pretty simple and classic dress. Irene had often double or triple booked us with other clients, causing 30+ minute delays. One appointment we were asked to wait ~15 minutes while the dress was still being worked on and sewed in the back room which felt like the job was being rushed. At my final pick up, the cups I had requested were not sewn in and the lace detail was sagging in a few areas. When we returned again for my actual final pick up, due to the added cups, the outer seam along one breast was crooked and wasn't cohesive with the other side, and the dress had also tented at my lower back above my bum. The lace detail I had asked to be sewn in place from the previous visit wasn’t completed either. It was clearly a sloppy job. Then there was my MoH dress: an a-symmetrical floor length gown. Because she's tall the hem didn't need any adjustments especially because she requested the dress come up a bit higher to provide more coverage at the bust. She had also asked for cups to provide structure and support. Irene gave her cups to try on which were stained and clearly removed from another dress, and when the work was done, the seam at the waist was on an angle, the cups were sewn in overlapping one another which caused the bust to look lumpy, and somehow instead of getting more coverage at the bust, too much fabric was cut from the underarm area so it was actually exposing more skin than before the alterations began. At some point in between the first and second appointment before we had come realize the chaos, I had also brought Irene a dress I purchased online that I had planned to wear to my bachelorette outing. It just needed to come in one size but somehow, Irene took it in a size at the bust but not anywhere else. I realized that due to the lace detail at the waistline separating the top and bottom half of the dress, it was evident that Irene got too lazy to adjust the sizing for the bottom half of the dress. I ended up taking it to a local tailor for his opinion and when I tried it on, he told me I absolutely have to ask for my money back. Both my MoH and I had expressed our concerns to Irene and asked for adjustments but each time we came back for our next appointment, nothing was changed and the response we got was "this is how it's supposed to be". I paid almost $500 for my alterations and my MoH paid almost $300 for hers. We both ended up going to another seamstress and paid again to have Irene's sloppy work fixed. The second seamstress encouraged me to ask for my money back but after giving Irene multiple chances to fix her mistakes, I was too exhausted to continue fighting. I chose to go to Irene despite reading some negative reviews here beforehand – I know it’s not realistic for a business to have a perfect rating. At the end of the day, I’m very happy with how my dress turned out after the second seamstress fixed it, but it didn’t come without a stressful experience at Irene’s studio first. I do not recommend this business.Services: Alterations
Irene did a beautiful job ensuring my A-line, v-neck/v-back wedding dress was a custom fit. She also moved the floral/lace appliques in the best strategic spots on the skirt and small train. I sent a couple of photos of two veils I was considering and she hand-made a beautiful one-tier veil with beading on the edge more to come on this as well as a mask including leftover material from the train. It only required 3 fittings as planned over the span of 6 months for our late August wedding. I found her services to be very reasonably priced for her skillful work, time, and sound advice. What I will never forget is that due to my clumsiness, I tore the veil significantly hours before we were leaving for our wedding out of town!! Irene was absolutely amazing, she was so compassionate, and kept me calm. She dropped everything for me and performed her miraculous seamstress “surgery” and she came up with a solution. It was brilliant and no one could tell anything had happened. People were too busy admiring the whole dress and look!! Thank you, Irene, forever! You were such a pleasure to work with and we enjoyed your passion for your work, your many stories and great humour along the way!
Excellent! Absolutely Amazing seamstress! She transformed my bridal gown by adding custom bead work to the bodice. I now continue to go to Irene for other minor alterations as well! She is magical!
