Story

Island City Dental, a staple in the Fort Lauderdale and Wilton Manors community for over 35 years, is a privately owned practice, specializing in state of the art cosmetic and restorative dentistry.

Doctor Robert L. Smith, DDS

Dr. Smith attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, obtaining a dual degree in chemistry and biology. He then continued his education at Emory University in Atlanta, where he received a Doctorate in Dental Surgery, DDS. After graduation, Dr. Smith couldn't stop his passion for learning. He has completed surgical training for implants and bone grafts from the respected Misch Institute. In addition, Dr. Smith has studied full-mouth reconstruction, restorative and prosthetic dentistry, and general dentistry with Pankey, Dawson, and Michael Pecos. He is certified by the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation and holds membership in the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Broward County Dental Association, and International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Since 1982, Dr. Smith has provided excellent dentistry to patients in the same area he grew up in. His office in Fort Lauderdale has been in business since 1986, and some of his patients have been with him for more than two decades. Dr. Smith prides himself on providing good value in the form of dental work designed to last.


Doctor Hasan Yap, DDS

Born and raised in Panama, Dr. Yap earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery, DDS from the Universidad de Panama. He then continued his education at the University of Florida, where he completed a two-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. Immediately following, Dr. Yap was accepted to a three-year Prosthodontics Residency Program at NOVA Southwestern University, where he served as Chief Resident, focusing on full mouth rehabilitation, surgical placement of implants, and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Yap broadened his skill set ever further by obtaining a Prosthodontics Certification, as well as publishing independent research on dental implants, that pioneered the advancement of the “All on Four” protocol.

As a surgically trained Prosthodontist, Dr. Yap is able to offer his patients a wide range of treatment options; spanning from the simplest (i.e., removable dental protheses) to the most complex (i.e., fixed dental protheses) treatment options.

Dr. Yap is a current member of The American College of Prosthodontists, American Dental Association, and the Florida Dental Association.



Doctor Lori Albe, DMD

Dr. Lori Albe earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry, DMD degree from the University of Florida, Gainesville and has been practicing dentistry for 23 years. An actual South Florida native, Dr Albe grew up in Coral Gables and took an early interest in dentistry by doing high school "work-study" in dental offices.
Dr. Albe continually looks for ways to enhance the treatments that she provides for her patients. Over the 17 years at this practice, she has developed a philosophy of total care and individualized treatment for her patients. Dr Albe explains that it is important for people to make informed choices regarding their dental care and take an active role in getting healthy.

Dr. Albe is a member of the American, Florida, and Broward County Dental Associations.
