Story

The goal of the Islip Animal Shelter is to enforce animal control measures needed to protect the health, safety, and welfare of Islip residents while promoting animal welfare. The shelter houses stray and abandoned animals and makes every effort to have as many of those animals adopted as is possible. A dedicated, compassionate staff of employees and volunteers facilitates this process. We encourage you to adopt and save the live of an adorable, loving animal.

Mission

We are a low-kill shelter and our goal is to bring animals in off the streets and get them healthy, happy, and into homes. The more we spread the word about these animals, the better chance they have for a long and happy life. Please like and share our page and photos to increase the chance of adoption!

The lady was rude. If you want people to adopt the animals there, then maybe the staff should be more friendly. The animals outside don't even have water. A lot of them were impounded so you can't even adopt them. Overall, bad experience.

The lady we encountered was rude and seemed bothered by us when we called about finding a stray that we wanted to bring in. She couldn't act like she cared less about the dog we had just found and she didn't care where it ended up.

Do not adopt their animals who are younger then six months because the Vet Tech spays/neuters them at 7 weeks old! THAT IS TOO YOUNG. This can cause a medical problem as the pet gets older because their reproductive parts are not fully developed and will cause cancers, infections and various diseases. If you're going to spay or neuter your pet, wait til they are at least six months old. The workers are not trained through school to work here, they were hired off the streets by the town and "trained" to work at this particular shelter.

If i could give them zero stars I would. Dirty, gross and smelly. Dogs are not cared for. Also staff thinks they ate a bunch of natzis lol btw the reason u most find pits is they are working with private shelters who want small.dogs. smaller the dog the bigger the fee...and I know this first hand be couse I volunteer for many private rescues. Go to Babylon town shelter the staff is friendly And the dogs are loves and u wont get treated like garbage
