I just recenty heard about this spot in an article about the hottest newly opened restaurants in SD. It's close by so I had to try it out. Located in an unassuming strip mall, we weren't even sure which door was the front door. Once inside, it's a simple small space. We ordered the VIP margarita and the mole old fashioned. Both were tasty, definitely not your traditional old fashioned but still good. We also ordered the gem salad, sliders, duck fried rice and Australian wagyu. I gotta say that I'm craving that duck fried rice right now, wow! The wagyu had a nice char on it and was cooked perfectly. The chef, Nate, welcomes all guests and describes the food which is a really nice touch.
You need to try this place! One of the most unique spots in San Diego, with some of the most delicious and carefully crafted dishes I've had. Their A5 wagyu will be the best steak you've ever had, I guarantee it. But the side dishes are amazing too. We had the wagyu sliders, egg rolls and albondigas soup with wagyu, which was an awesome flavorful twist on the traditional Mexican dish. The other real treat is having the chef come out and chat for a bit, and personally share all of the details of the food you're savoring. The drinks are great too. Definitely recommend!

Wow! Every bite was spectacular and worth mentioning! We opted for the tasting menu and chef Nate personally walked us through each course. There was such a variety of texture and flavor across each dish; well balanced and exciting to the senses! Some of my favorites were the crudo, the duck fried rice, and of course the wagyu! We ended with an incredible dessert - wagyu fat brownie and mochi ice cream with coconut milk and white chocolate sauce. I'm not big into sweets and never order dessert, but I was so glad I had my own serving of this and didn't have to share! If you're considering going, do it! You can't go wrong ordering off the menu. The table beside us was in a larger group and they looked equally as happy as us! The staff is very polite and attentive, the decor modern and minimalist. Great food, great atmosphere. Thank you Chef for a memorable experience! Dietary restrictions: They ask up front if you have any restrictions and are very accommodating.
The flavors and quality of the food are incredible. The drinks are great, and there is a nice selection of Japanese whisky. The service is phenomenal and the executive chef was attentive and accommodating. Must try the mushroom karaage! We can’t wait to come back and try more items on the menu.
Went there this past week as we had read about it. Not much of an ambiance, but the food is fantastic and reasonable! Really enjoyed the mushroom karrage and brussel sprouts. We also had the sliders, beef/scallops and chicken skewers. We will definitely be coming back to try other dishes Vegetarian options: Many tasty vegetarian options such as the mushroom karrage and brussel sprouts. Parking: You have plenty of parking by the restaurant and across the street.
I am so happy multiple people referred me to this restaurant. The quality, presentation, and taste are incredibly unique and appreciated. We definitely will be coming back very soon.
Wow.. its almost all you have to say about this new GEM that won't be hidden for very long at all. The food is next level delicious,our table all left amazed and already scheduling our next visit. Maya our sever was professional and on point the whole time, ahe had us laughing and enjoying the plates as they came out. One thing is for certain,The chef really puts his heart and soul in the menu, he is going to be a very very busy person as his popularity soars! Also, last but not least the bartender mixed excellent drinks. Get there as soon as you can, I will see you there.
First time I went, I was blown away! The menu rocks you cant go wrong with anything. The Waygu was amazing. The drinks all rocked too! Def. recommend checking it out!
Great food and super friendly chef & staff. We had a ton of food and a few drinks — good value! Really nice addition to La Mesa!
