I want to like this place because it's close to my house, but after 3 tries, I'm giving up! It's Friday morning and all I wanted was a fresh pastry, or cookie. I got the wife cake (Asian white bean cake) and the almond cookie. Both were old and STALE! It was 8 am in the morning! Looks like I got yesterday's (or the who knows how long) OLD pastries. Another side note - the glass cases look dingy. J&J, please clean up your act!

The pork bun is really good. Lots of BBQ pork inside the bun. The coffee is awesome, better than Starbucks.

I hadn't been down in this area of South City for a while yet wanted to go get some goodies at Galli's Bakery. To my surprise it had been sold to someone else. An Asian Bakery now with the same looks as Galli's. An impatient Chinese Women comes out with a straight face stern look doesn't say anything. I asked about Florentine Canoli's  I was rudely told ''We don't make them, seeing cookies at $1,00 each that were package size were nothing special, the mousse cake was stale, the Creme filled Canoli's had a cream that was very oily inside, took two bites that was it. Cakes were overpriced in my opinion. I've visited quite a few bakeries . Lychee Nut Mousse or Grass Jelly desert in a small cup doesn't quite cut it with me,Won't be returning anytime soon if at all. Shame Galli's has been sold.

This new bakery opened on March 2, 2017, in the space formerly occupied by the historic Sanitary Bakery.  They had a few pretty cakes in a spinning glass case.  My family and I just finished lunch down the block, so we opted for something small.  We enjoyed an M&M cookie and a savory onion bread.  We'll be back to try something else soon.
