First stop after SFO is always Raymond's Bread! Who cares about burnt hands when you have Raymond's HOT sourdough in your mouth...  Excited when we saw Raymond's sourdough in a grocery store on Maui!!  Husband asked their bakery to slice it (why??) and the new person mangled it in the machine.  In 5 minutes time the 10 loaves on the shelf were gone; mangled Raymond's at $8 a loaf was still awesome--especially since we live 4000 miles away and hadn't had any in a few years!

Amazing bread! All the ones I tried are great (sourdough, sweet French baguette, cinnamon raising! ). Can't get enough! And everyone is super nice there!

Simple, clean, straightforward bakery that serves superb sourdough and has a decent selection. One essential note: transactions were clearly marked as CASH ONLY when I visited, so come prepared. There was a crowd of happy locals excitedly buying bread when I stopped in, and the service was efficient and friendly. The loaf of bread I purchased had an excellent, crisp crust that surrounded an impressively soft, exceptionally tasty inner crumb. Its quality was actually superior to anything I have had so far from San Francisco.
