J & L Foodmart has been serving the Truckee community since 1962. Jack and Lynn first ran the gas station for Mobil Oil Company, then became a Shell Dealer in 1972. They leased the station from Stewart Wells (Stewart & Grant Wells' father who owned Nyack), eventually buying it from him. In 1983 they remodeled the station into a convenience store and later added a carwash in 1987. The site has been recently updated in 2013 adding new non-slip floors and cabinetry. Jack & Lynn's daughter Tammy has been working for them since she was in grade school and since 2010 their grandchildren have joined to help manage the business.
