This is a great little spot in the middle of Vernon. I was on a weekday adventure with my best friend and we stumbled upon this bookstore. They had such a great selection of books and it was well-organized. I really appreciate the whimsical decorations and the fact that they have staff available who are very knowledgeable in children's books/literature. The young lady who assisted me was such a great help in finding the perfect birthday gift for my boyfriend's daughter.

Wonderful kids bookstore. Made me think of a less stressful version of the Barnes and Noble children's section. Very helpful staff/owner. They have some cute toys too. The prices are printed right on the books from the publisher, so same price as B&N. Go to Jack and Allie's instead of the big chain store.

What a breath of fresh air it is to visit Jack and Allie's!  The only place I've ever shopped for children's books is Barnes & Noble, which is okay, but nothing unique. J&A's is warm and welcoming.  Moms and their little ones are welcome to stay a while and peruse as many books as they like. Owner Barbara Khan offers fun events in a room at the back of the shop.  I had no problem finding great books for an 11-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy.  The staff is very friendly and happy to help you.  I'm glad it's located in Vernon.  They'll even gift wrap your purchases.  I also saw some lovely handmade children's items on consignment. It's wonderful how much Barbara cares about children and her community.  I highly recommend you explore this awesome children's book store before you trot back to the same old stores you've gone to before!
