From start to finish, this has been a fantastic job. The estimator who came out was understanding of my wishes, the installation went as scheduled and was done neatly, and when I had additional questions about the safe operation of my new gas fireplace, a technician came out and explained everything to me so that I can now use it with complete confidence and safety. Well done!

James A. Wheat & Sons came out and did a maintenance check on my AC back in July 2016 and said everything was fine; I repeat......everything was fine. However, a week or two later (August 2016), the AC wasn't cooling the house and the contractor came out and indicated that we we lost all of our coolant, probably due to a leak. By the way, our electric bill was outrageous too. Something is fishy here. AC fine before they came out and fine after checking it. But now we've lost 100% of our coolant in a two week period. Hmmmm......they charged us $800 to replace the coolant and I asked them what caused the leak. They said they didn't know and would have to come back out to determine that. They did come back out (in September 2016) and said we needed a new coil for $2,800. So since this was in September 2016 (and we were entering the fall season) and the AC was cooling the house properly w/ normal electric bills, my husband and I delayed getting the work done to come up with the cash. Then when May 2017 rolled around and we began using our AC (with no issues nor a sky high electric bills), we starting thinking that our AC was fine. I believe we were correct in our assumption, as we had a another contractor come out in June 2017 to inspect our AC and they indicated that everything looked good; not to mention that our electric bill was still normal. The AC season for 2017 is just about over and we still haven't had any issues with our AC. So needless to say, we moved on from James A. Wheat and found another contractor.

It is one thing to overcharge people for a simple service, but it is totally unacceptable when businesses try to trick you into spending way more than you need to. I called Wheat and Sons Inc. to inquire about the cost of connecting an outdoor grill to an existing gas line. The rep on the phone told me that he cannot give me an estimate but for a cost of $35 they will send a technician to come look at what is needed and accordingly will provide me with an accurate cost. I agreed to this service and few days later a technician showed up. He looked at the grill and the pipe and told me that, yes indeed it is a very basic service that should not take him long, and that it would cost me $525. I don't ever like to determined how simple or complicated a task is unless I know enough about it, and I don't think you need to be an expert to realize it does not cost over $500 to connect two pipes. However, the high cost is not my concern. I can always shop around and find a better deal, but when I asked why is it so expensive the technician notified me that they have flat rates for these services! Seriously? Couldn't they tell me that when I had called few days earlier and had asked for a rough estimate? The technician was very professional and agreed to wave the $35 fee. I think even he felt embarrassed for wanting to charge me over $500 for such a simple task. They think when the technician is there people are more willing to pay and get the task done as opposed to hearing the ridicules high cost on the phone and moving on to the next provider. Not professional in my view.

As always, a great experience with Wheat and Sons. We have a mystery noise that comes from our furnace periodically. As you would expect, it would not make the noise while the technician was here. But today's technician, Ramesh, did a great job explaining the steps I can take to figure it out the next time it happens. He left the case open so that we can call them back when it recurs. It was a great experience; he's helpful and personable and actually came earlier than expected.

Wow! Where do I start! I bought a house with undisclosed polybutylene pipes, and needed them replaced as soon as possible not only for my piece of mind but to avoid ruining all the beautiful floors we put in prior to finding out we have defective piping throughout the house. I called 9 different companies, and from the first moment I spoke to them (thank you Sara!!) they were great. I collected several estimates, and they werent the cheapest, but they werent the most expensive either. But definitely so easy to work with. Not only did they replace my pipes, and water heater, the estimate included drywall repair and painting. Through this process we ran into other pipe issues of improper installation, and we had to amend the contract with Josh a couple times, and Victor came over to my house so many times to complete the job. Through all the hiccups and this HUGE job... they were responsive and Sara kept checking in on the progress, and they were open for questions and concerns. I am SO impressed, and SO grateful for their service. Their estimate was fair, and their customer service was excellent, and the labor was great. No other company offered drywall repair after the repiping. Plus their labor comes with a warranty. I currently have a home warranty, but I prefer going with James A. Wheat for all my future needs in plumbing and HVAC, rather than whats covered for my Home warranty. Thank you to the whole team, ESPECIALLY Sara. I just feel like she needs a special mention.. She made this nightmare of a disaster so much easier on me, from the moment I called and really listening to my story, to finalizing the bill. I already recommended them to my neighbors.
