I've heard from others that this place has seen better days, but being a Japanese American living in a smaller town in the United States, this was bliss. I came mainly for the food. The authenticity and freshness was somewhat questionable. Very high tourist factor, but in the moment, I did not care. I enjoyed the experience because I knew that in the end, I was not in Japan.  I got to taste flavors that I miss from Tokyo and Osaka at a very generic level and do some fun shopping with the family. Good enough for me

Great mall that has all sorts of shops and restaurants. Almost everything Japan related from hand crafted furniture to addictive snacks from the Daiso dollar store can be found. The new Takoyaki kiosk is worth a stop if you're an adventurous eater.

The center on its own it's amazing...the problem is the parking and surroundings. Our car got broken into. Two windows to be exact, luggage and bags were stolen. One mac laptop and one bag with our asthma medication. It was very unfortunate, traumatizing, and scary. We made a police report, and officers arrived after three hrs. They say the area is high on crime, and that they usually have over a thousand theft reports made every day.  
We were very sad and disappointed. We did not know that this happens here at San Francisco. Especially during daylight, ours happened at 2:45 pm, and there were other 5 cars affected too!
Please be careful if you park with stuff inside your car. Don't leave anything visually in the open. It is not worth it. This incident cost us more than $2000 😭😢😤

this place has really grown and gotten so much better than the barren strip mall it once was. Now it is clean, full of interesting multi cultural stores and is actually a great place to spend a day.

Daughter lives all things related to Japan so she desperately wanted to visit this pace on our recent trip to San Francisco. It certainly dies what it says on the tin! Everything is Japanese related. Enjoyable day spent here.
