I’ve been coming here for years and years and it never disappoints. Delicious coffee, pastries, chicken and tuna salad. Arty gift items - love the T shirts. Friendly staff. Just a very cozy unpretentious place for take-out or to relax and read while listening to an excellent soundtrack. Bravo.Food: 5/5
The cafe and staff are really nice, and the staff was very polite and patient. They made our drinks very well, and they also had a lot of teas and coffees to order off-menu. They do have a sign that asls for phone conversations to be taken outside so as not to disturb the other patrons, which was nice. They also have a shop inside with some locally made gifts, and mugs, which was really cute.
Not only does Linda have the best coffee in the hood, but her shop also boasts a unique atmosphere that transcends the city bustle. Stepping inside feels like entering an oasis. Warm, soft lighting illuminates the space, showcasing decorative rustic furniture adorned with unique ornaments. Gift items, Linda's unique designs, line shelves, tempting you to browse while you sip your coffee. A gallery of polaroid pictures adorns the wall, snapshots of neighborhood history. Additionally Java provides a truly exceptional social scene for the neighborhood. I've met some amazing people here over the years.
Coffee is decent, but the layout is cramped and the place is chock full of frufru items for sale. Good for grandmothers with a ton of time and disposable income.
My latte was delicious with lots of foam. The shop is very cute. I loved the decorations and cute mugs for sale. I just wish they served coffee in mugs and not just paper cups.
The best part about this place is the ambience and it caters to that 90’s “You’ve Got Mail” dot com NYC coffee shop girl. The design of the space is sublime, with cozy reading nooks and whimsical merchandise like coffee mugs decorated with Steve Madden-esque shoes and kitschy kittens. The baristas are always nice. The downside is, the coffee isn’t great. Maybe the other flavors that they display in proud barrels are tastier, but everytime I’ve ordered coffee or a cappuccino to go, I have been disappointed. When it comes to food, options are limited. They have a small selection of pastries and granola bars, but not many substantial food options. Additionally, there are old, creepy men that sometimes lurk outside and attempt to chat up the young women that come in and are trying to mind their business. This isn’t the shop’s fault, but it does kill the vibe.
Incredible place!! Rare finding! So cosy and nice! Great assortment of pastries, sandwiches, teas for sale, other souvenirs. I loved my morning here! Thank you!!
Overall, FANTASTIC! Great coffee, attentive owner and staff, cozy and friendly. I have been going since 2000...my most favorite coffee cafe in NYC, an absolute must for your daily fix!Food: 5/5
A nice and cozy coffee shop. The coffee quality is pretty good and the pastries I had were fresh and delicious. This reminded me of many neighborhood coffee shops that are all over the place in Seattle/Portland great for spending a raining afternoon with your laptop working out of office enjoying good coffee. I definitely didn't expect to find such a place on the Upper East Side. I highly recommend it especially if you are looking for a place to camp for a bit and enjoy the moment
Quaint place with reliable coffee. The vibe is quirky nostalgic. Coffee are roasted and infused with flavor, not with syrup if you’re into flavored coffee.Food: 4/5
