Jeff Karl is artist/craftsman/designer who understands beauty and customer service. He designed and made a gorgeous ring for me twenty years ago.—affordably. I wear and cherish it to this day. His staff is always polite and never condescending, even if you just need a new battery for a Timex. They do have lovely things and quality timepieces, too. Long-time community favorite!

Jeff Karl does wonderful work at a fair and honest price.  I feel like he treats each piece of jewelry like the customer it belongs to, kind, respectful, and wanting it to last forever.  Although we did not purchase my wedding ring from this store, he's taken great care and pride in cleaning and repairing it in the 7+ years I've had it.  He is also the only jeweler I trust to appraise it for our insurance coverage!  I look forward to working with him for many years to come!

Absolutely,  without a doubt, Jeff Karl is a true craftsman of the trade.  I have been purchasing amazing custom items from Jeff for over 20 yrs! If you're looking for fair, honest and amazing.. be sure to give them a look!

I would like to add a preface to my review. My parents were customers, quite regularly for around 20 years of Jeff's place. My mom (unfortunately my only living parent now) recommended Jeff's for a wedding/engagement set.

I went into his shop, introducing myself as a decendant of a couple decades of family business to his daughter, Anna. 

I was extremely impressed with Anna. She seemed honest, showed myself and my current fiance what we liked and she answered questions accordingly. 

We asked Anna for a specific diamond, an oval cut. She showed us a near flawless one carat diamond. I asked how much the diamond would have cost. She replied, "Six thousand dollars".

I thought to myself that it would be a good place to do business.

I returned as asked to speak with Jeff due to Anna not working at the time, and a family references that Jeff was trustworthy, which I later found out was far from my opinion of the truth.

I explained to Jeff that I liked a certain setting (no diamond included) that was over $2000. I told him that I would like to have it towards my engagement ring. He later gave it to me for his asking price, and I didn't negotiate, because I had been told he was trustworthy.

My next return, he informed me that he included a wedding band without my request. That was over $1000 more, again, no negotiating. 

As a Flagstaff local, having a family with over two decades of business, and still contributing  to our local community, I unfortunately trusted Jeff.

A summary of Jeff's diamond prices to me were as follows. Jeff told me that a 1.5 carat, H coloring, SI2 would be approximately $16,000 plus my full price setting. That was my first cue of getting ripped off. I asked to see a couple sets of diamonds that were extremely overpriced by Jeff. I never bought one due to Jeff telling me that one carat ovals, medium grade were going to cost me nearly $8,000.

On my last meeting with Jeff, after I felt like he was continuing to try to rip me off, I asked him about the $6,000 diamond that Anna had told me about that was nicer than his near $8,000 one carat recommendations, and the same size. He stuttered and told me that the same diamond that Anna told me was $6000 was $6700. I told him, okay, and he wrote it up on a written estimate as $6750.

I thought about trusting Jeff from family advice for a couple of weeks. After calling other jewelers and getting estimates, it was clear he was trying to clean me out.

When I went into the store to inform Jeff that I did not want to get a diamond and only spend $3500 for full asking price on the setting and wedding band that I didn't request (due to respecting my family ties), Jeff informed me that I would need to pay an additional $75 for the shipment of diamonds that I didn't not buy and was over quoted on. Stupidly, I paid it.

Nonetheless, I will never do business with him ever again, and will dissuade anyone from going near his place. Shoot me a personal message and I will tell you what I think of Jeff and his business. He will try to squeeze you for every last buck if he can.

My personal advice to Jeff is to stay away from the front and greedy negotiations and let Anna handle the customer service aspect.

I had stopped in at Jeff Karl Jewelers a few years ago, purchased a new chain for a pendant & looked around at his beautiful selection of jewelry. A few months ago, I took in my favorite tennis bracelet that I had managed to break at an awkward spot. He fixed it beautifully, I can't even tell where I had broke it! And at a very reasonable price!! So next I took in my favorite heavy chain that had lost the spring in the lobster clasp. Once again, he repaired it & at a fair price. 
So the pictured "jewel", I took in last month. I had taken it to another local jeweler some years ago for repair & when I got it back, I thought it was destroyed forever! I was so devastated that I had not been able to deal with it until Mr. Jeff Karl recently re-built my trust in a jeweler. I offered him the challenge to restore my once beautiful Our Lady of Guadalupe Medallion. He looked it over & took that challenge with no guarantees on the final product. As you can see from the picture, he did a mighty fine job!! I am THRILLED with the final restoration & SO HAPPY to be wearing her around my neck again. And yes, once again, all at a fair price  :)   I HIGHLY recommend Jeff Karl Jewelers for all your jewelry repairs & new purchases too - he has some very beautiful items!! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH Mr. Karl & Morgan for your very valuable service!!
